Still thinking about that user that left us with a bombshell of a leak. Hope he's alright, but we can't let that weigh us down. let's get to work.
Here's what we know. 19% of Rosneft was promised to Trump and his associates in exchange for lifting sanctions on Russia.
We know that 19.5% of Rosneft was sold to an untraceable entity hiding behind shell corporations in the Caymen islands.
We can't say for sure that Trump and his associates are involved but that's the suspicion. We know for sure whoever bought those shares is trying to avoid violating sanctions.
We also know that Exxon was denied a 500 billion dollar deal with Russia because of Sanctions. If sanctions were lifted, that 500 billion deal would go through.
And we know that Rex Tillerson who has been a wheeler and dealer with Exxon for all of his life was just appointed to be Secretary of State by Trump. Tillerson has no relevant public service experience which raises red flags.
One theory is that Tillerson will absorb the heat from investigation and criticism. Collaboration between U.S. and Russia will be chalked up to Tillerson's ties to Exxon instead of the bribe to Trump. Tillerson isn't currently part of the company so nothing illegal will fall in his lap- he'll step down and return to being CEO of Exxon or as a consultant for his reward.
We also know that the head of cyber security for the FSB has been taken by Russian authorities and hasn't been seen sense. This raises a red flag because he's the one that would know about Russian hacking into U.S. elections, and compromising information on Trump that might get Trump impeached. We also know that at least one more Russian intelligence officer has been killed. I suspect Putin is tying up loose ends.
user predicted Trump would lift sanctions on Russia to hold up his end of the deal. Trump has been hinting at "restarting" relations with Russia, but Russia has done nothing to earn that status and is continuing to attack Ukraine
No repuatable links, no solid arguments as to why we should care, no indication that alliance with russia would be a bad thing even i this was true (which it isnt), and the classic writings of a shill or /leftpol/ faggot that's really trying hard to "raid" here.

This is a shill thread spreading fake facts. Its not even ctr, its antifa idiots, i know them they live in my city.
Putin is taking out his own intelligence agents. I think Trump demanded this as a condition. This is meant to destroy all embarrassing and compromising information against Trump. But what is Trump afraid of? And why wouldn't he understand that Russia would have backups of all the information. It just doesn't make sense. Maybe Putin promised the information would be safe- and he's killing his intel agents as a sign of good faith to Trump?

>So in July the dossier said a Trump associate was offered 19% of Rosneft if Trump became president and removed sanctions. Then a sale happens in early December of 19.5% of Rosneft.
We know that Trump just fired legal oversight for not going along with what he said rather than what's legal.
Some are claiming this is a move to consolidate power, to have no one checking the legality of his actions, and to have no one that would notice or investigate any potential wrong doings by Trump and his administration.
I don't think Trump is preparing for a coup- like some others have insisted. But, you have to wonder why Trump is willing to issue orders that violate the law- or not consult with legal council that addresses concerns about legal implications.
Take that in conjunction with the fact that Trump immediately filled out the paper work for a reelection bid at the 2020 election. This allows money to be funneled to him directly in exchange for legislative/executive kick backs.
So he tosses out objective legal supervision and implements a plan to solicit payments from entities that want something from him. Some are accusing Donald of being in debt. Could his debt be way higher than he can pay off with a presidential salary? What if he knew he'd go bankrupt if he earned the presidential office- and he's taking steps to cover his bills through reelection donations.
>A big question is why the Kremlin, given its controls over almost all the country’s media, wanted this news out. Among the guesses is that the Kremlin wants firmer confirmation for the US, and perhaps the world, that it in fact did hack the US election.

Holy shit this is fucking huge!!!!.
Two things. The profits from Rosneft can be funneled through the Caymen Islands into a superpac directly to pay off his campaign debt- and to fund his reelection, and to "cover bills' that his campaign office racks up taking up office space in his own Trump towers. He's already fucking done it. HAHA what a fucking madman. The shell corporation in Caymen Islands is kept secret- and super pacs don't have to disclose donors.
Second, and this is almost as big.
Since Donald Trump is officially a presidential candidate, non profit organizations can't talk negatively about him or "campaign" without risk of losing non-profit status. That is, his political opponents have to come up with a new strategy for their talking points- that don't involve refuting him directly, or arguing that his ideas are bad. He will essentially have no organized non-profit opposition to his political and personal actions for the next 4 years.
Holy fucking shit. This is mind blowing.
So, first things first; Trump takes a Rosneft bribe set up in the Caymen islands- which is beyond prying eyes. He has that money funneled into a superpac and into his wallet- although without having to disclose where the money came from. He dumps legal oversight so no who's privy to this information will find out what's going on. He has people sign NDAs to keep his staff and meetings quiet- beyond what's a state secret. And he shuts down his political opponents for the next four years all in about a month.
How fucking brutal.
Cameron Nelson

What does the US get in return for lifting sanctions?

>The surprise deal gives the buyers a 19.5 percent stake in Rosneft PJSC, which the U.S. and European Union have targeted with punitive measures, and is the biggest foreign investment in Russia since the crisis in Ukraine. Anything less than ceasing all expansionist actions to the West of Russia wouldn't be a fair trade. Russia shouldn't be able to invade another country and get off scott free. Especially one that was considering NATO membership.
On top of this, Trump is talking about ending the NATO alliance which is essentially Putin's wet dream. End the alliance and USSR would be back the following week. >according to two people familiar with the deal who declined to be identified because they were not authorized to speak on the matter. Intesa, which worked for the Russian government as its consultant on the Rosneft privatization sale, declined to comment, as did Rosneft. A Glencore spokesman couldn’t immediately be reached.
Could be a smokescreen. This is from FuelFix.
>The presence of Glencore in the deal, however, has raised eyebrows since the Russian oil industry is supposed to be off limits for Western investors because of European and American sanctions imposed on Russia. And the terms of the deal are not clear, with an unnamed bank taking a prominent role.
Glencore’s participation in the deal came as a surprise since the company is going through difficult financial times and only last year faced doubts about its ability to handle its own debts.
Think about it. A failing company suddenly ponies up billions of dollars through "an unknown bank" to buy shares from a company that was looking to buy back shares.
i'm not saying this is a smokescreen for sure. But it's a fishy story. Why is an unnamed bank involved? And how could a company in finantial trouble with failing assets be able to 1. handle this transaction and 2. offer up collateral for it.
My idea is that Putin saw this failing company as an opportunity to cover his bribe to Trump. he basically met with - or sent his people to meet with- some chairmen and said "look, we're going to give you some money to advertise this deal". Plus, Putin could offer some trade deals, maybe some arms, defense contracts, etc.
Failing companies don't just get loan hand outs to the tune of more than 10 billion. Combine that with almost zero people backing up the claims about the buyout or conditions of it etc. It's just fishy. it could be truth though. Good find user.

I think you missed the whole globalism vs nationalism thing. It's not our job to stop Russia if it costs more than we gain. Frankly, we don't gain much at all. If Europe wants to deal with Russia they need to build up their own military and do it themselves.
We will protect our NATO allies, but we aren't obligated to protect non-allies. Basically, what you're advocating is fighting on 3 separate fronts. You want to contain Russia in eastern Europe, you want us to deal with ISIS in the middle east, and you want us to deal with China in the far east (Don't forget the Iran and North Korea).
We are getting into too many foreign conflicts.

It wasn't so much invading a sovereign nation as supporting legitimate grievance of population splitting.
Very clearly half the ukrainian population in crimea did not want to join EU and were sympathetic to russia while other half wanted EU.
It's really only possibly for a peaceful solution to be made via splitting the state. One to EU one to Russia.
Else you will forever have a war in Ukraine, as Russia isn't about to give up Crimea. If only for it's strategic value.
