Finland and Estonia were part of the russian Empire, and the Romanovs got murdered around the same time FInland and Estonia became independent from Russia. Pretty Simple, really.

Not really. Pre 1800 Finland wasn't really a country. People just lived here and minded their own business. The official Swedish governement had very little to do with people's daily lives.
