The man has been enormously influential on american policy for decades. Read his biography, he's a remarkable man and I like him very much.

That being said, you're right though, he's a poor man's right version of Chomsky, whom I despise(a linguist who speaks one language as a supreme authority on everything social science, why?). Hes an empty intellectual suit.
Charles Krauthammer was the premier neocon idealogue. Much like Steve Bannon, he was whispering in George Bush's ear (and writing public editorials) defining the platform of the Republican party from 2000 to 2008.
His other neoconservative friends who did the same thing (writing for national review, etc.) realized he was kind of bonkers when he was telling Bush to go to war in the middle east and jerk Israel off harder.
Francis Fukuyama (and maybe Irving Kristol, I can't remember) expressed nervousness about Krauthammer's eagerness for nation-building in the middle east and were skeptical as to why the US was propping up Israel so much. Fukuyama's piece, I remember, noted Krauthammer grinning after the announcement of the war in Iraq at a fundraising breakfast. Krauthammer told him that everything was going better than anyone thought, and Fukuyama realized at that moment that Krauthammer was actually retarded, and he stopped corresponding with and writing about neoconservatives.
Another thing that in hindsight should have been a red flag was the tremendous outreach to Christians and evangelicals despite the neoconservative movement being VERY Jewish. Historically the neoconservative movement represents the moment Jews joined the Republican party.
Basically, this dipshit Krauthammer convinced Bush it was a good idea to invade the middle east. The consequences of that (migrant crisis, longest war in US history, etc.) gave been fucking ridiculous and I'm glad this faggot broke his neck. He deserves to suffer.

It's sad that Krauthammer has become a shell of his former self. While I cannot bring myself to like him, I also am not able to bring myself to hate him in spite of trying.
I don't think anyone arguing for him being a good analyst have ever heard good analysts. There are a lot of people with clear views of the world with much better analysis than Krautshitter.
Just go on youtube and look up literally any conference or policy debate on foreign affairs. About 1/3rd of the people who speak will be pretty intelligent and are better than this fuckshit.
