Your food, getting you a free apartment, handing you clothes, a computer, an internet connection, etc.
Would you still work, if you would not have to? If not, what would you do all day? Party, eat and post shit on the internet?
Your food, getting you a free apartment, handing you clothes, a computer, an internet connection, etc.

I spent years not working.
It made me suicidal.
I need something to do otherwise life loses meaning.
I've had enough with partying.
Some people actually grow up.
Sounds like Star Trek where everything is transmatted at the atomic level. Food, resources, everything is simply conjured up through automated machines that rearrange atoms and make that substance. What purpose would he have as humans if there is no struggle or human condition?
being responsible for your life is a good thing. If everything was done by megacorp then you are cattle. You have to trust them, and they can do with you how they please. Yeah yeah, we're already entrenched in this problem. But it would get much worse when you're subscribing to welfare and offer absolutely nothing.
pleasure you fools. the purpose than would be to experience the pleasure that life gives. sex, adventure, cuisines, anything that gives you a good feeling.
if by 'work' you mean conquer the stars for my volk with my army of robot henchmen, then yes.
why any robot would need muscles unless you want it to fuck you in the ass? why it´d need an angry face? comics are retarded af
fpbp
something to take the edge off the sheer emptiness that is my existence
when i started working i instantly became a workaholic. if i didnt work id feel bad cause i had nothing else going for me. i had 2 jobs both at 30+ hours a week. i remember this one thanksgiving. both my jobs werent open. it was a long and lonely day.
im better these days cause i feel like i proved to myself i can actually accomplish things irl. but ill never forget the absolute feeling of despair not having something to do
>anything that gives you a good feeling
There's much more to life than pleasure and good feelings.
It's a hollow existence. You stop caring and get desensitized to it all.
Life needs ups and downs.
Dopamine isn't everything.
iz 2 mayk u feel ralatabal 2 da comec
Why are the robots angry?
Oh hell yes. My biggest problem is that I don't function well on a 9-5 cycle. Could actually do all the stuff I want to without burning out at work then crashing when I get home.
>Sounds like Star Trek
>What purpose would he have as humans
To boldly go where no man has gone before, duh.
woah thats deep bro like i cant feel emotions unless there´s a mad face and humanoid bodies, really makes you think
I don't think so. pleasure is all I care about. I welcome our robot overlords in hopes I don't have to work again. but thankfully people like you exist, people like you will keep working. Like I tell people I meet; "somebody will do it."
id be the ones making the robots and laughing at all the poorfags like I do now.
that being said, there is always stuff to do, id rather have poorfags have like a 2 day work week or something and pick up trash for a bit then have the rest of the time off.
in that case we have upgraded the sectors pyramid again and are still trying to accomplish something, though
self-improvement
takes a special caliber of human to be able to focus on that without any other reason to get up in the morning, but eventually it'd separate the wheat from the chaff (because the active people would be the only ones having kids) and lead to a whole new type of human, one that can transcend their biology and truly create their own purpose
>why any robot would need muscles
Quite honestly, the holy grail of modern robotics is artificial muscles and control of them. Not even kidding, look it up.
For the silly faces, not sure about that.
absolutely this. The ALL OR NOTHING "scenarios" are not realistic anyway
>pleasure is all I care about
You're worthless and weak.
If such a society did exist I'd work to destroy it.
People like you don't need to flourish.
>pick up trash for a bit then have the rest of the time off.
What purpose would picking up trash have, if the streets are already clean due to robots picking up trash 24/7?
I do research in chem eng and love it so no I would not stop working, I would adapt and acquire cybernetic implants allowing me to perform on pace with my robotic brethren to ascend humanity into godhood
My life is meant to serve our race in any way I can, we are all cogs in an all powerful machine that will spread across the universe like wildfire
or the results are communism again
>plays crysis once
>The ALL OR NOTHING "scenarios" are not realistic anyway
Correct.
But think about this:
1. We already have self driving tractors
2. We have semi-automated pig, cow and chicken farms - can be automated.
3. We have automated food processing plants.
4. We have self driving cars.
5. We have self checkouts in supermarkets
6. There can be robots stacking supermarkets
7. We can build housing with robots - already.
8. We can have trucks drive without drivers, taxis without drivers etc.
etc.
So the "dumb" jobs are going away in the next 20 years. What do you do with the dumb people who do those jobs? We already have 6 million people on Hartz IV and the numbers are rising.
Who the fuck would work if they didn't have to?
I'd probably start working because leeching off robots isn't as satisfying.
only if you forget to purge the shitskins first
I just came here to say that picture made me laugh.
>Who the fuck would work if they didn't have to?
Half the people on this thread it seems. Not sure why.
life would be fucking perfect
i'd buy a small rural property and do some manual labor restoring and managing the land, building a house, maybe have a wood workshop to make my own furniture too
I find manual work relaxing as it allows you to turn off your mind and focus on performing a single task effectively, and the results of doing actual work building things and changing your environemtn are very satisfying to me
I would of course take as much time off from those activities as I want to and use that to 1) build useful skills, and; 2) indulge in culture, like literature, philosophy, music, cinema, etc.
but no I'm stuck in the fucking rat race working some shitty admin job where I have to deal with shitty people all day just to be able to pay the bills at the end of the month and afford the living costs of an ugly ass violent city because it's the only place with jobs and then on my free time I shitpost and jack off and wonder constantly why I haven't gone full hobo yet or retired to the mountains to squat on someone else's land without even warning anyone in my shitty neurotic family
Maybe you are born a slave. I'm not. You are right it's nice to do something you like.
The moment you are doing something you don't like at that certain time it becomes work.
It would remove the do think you don't like, and replace it with things you do like to do.
>5. We have self checkouts in supermarkets
You do the work on those, you're doing what the cashier did (scanning barcodes). This is "self service", not automation.
In the future, the store should automatically detect the products you picked up or something like that. Amazon is working on it.
>What do you do with the dumb people who do those jobs? We already have 6 million people on Hartz IV and the numbers are rising.
if we are being >realistic
again, then we are burning up Hartz money year after year without good cleaning robots / gardening robots / nursing robots, many streets in bad shape too, so the welfare people should be put into a job, practically speaking.
don't worry yourself, you might have a heart attack with all the stress you seem to be under. I wont have kids for your sake, and I voted trump so I'm on your side.
>implying robots can't make robots
To spend the time I'd take a hobby of shooting drones out of the sky and putting IED on robots.
if everyone gets free housing and money that means i will have no leverage over women to get pussy... wtf man i need a robowaifu too
They drank the capitalist kool aid
most wouldn't really work, maybe they would do "term-free work" type of thing, one that has no real benefit for the economy but gives you a sense of accomplishment
>You do the work on those, you're doing what the cashier did (scanning barcodes). This is "self service", not automation.
Incorrect, the self checkout does the calculations and gives you the total that you have to pay.
>In the future, the store should automatically detect the products you picked up or something like that.
People have been working on this for a while, the problem seems to be the cost of the remote-tags (still 2-3 cents per tag and product). Self-checkouts are cheaper.
>so the welfare people should be put into a job, practically speaking.
But we do not do that. Why? Because using machines to build roads and work in gardens and forests and cleaning is more efficient. And nursing actually takes some dedication and skill.. can't have Hartzers on drugs nurse some 3 year old kid or 87yr old woman in a wheelchair.
I've been spoending my life 1,5 years as a neet now. I can drive my dads BMW M3 Cabrio whenever I want, do what I want and have enough money saved up to not live poor.
I've gotten fatter, have no motivation to do anything, get more degenerate per day - the list goes on. This is not the solution I am afraid.
>wtf man i need a robowaifu too
That will not be a problem. I am pretty sure, you can get a 10/10 superrobowaifu. Not even kidding here, this will be around in the next 20-25 years. You can even switch on "nagging mode" if you are bored.
>Incorrect, the self checkout does the calculations and gives you the total that you have to pay.
almost all cashiers do this, what year is it lol, many years ago the ladies still had to tucker in the prices, but calculators have been there since forever
>Self-checkouts are cheaper.
This is why full automation still takes a while, at the moment some tasks are still easier/cheaper to do with the help of a human, than fully automized.
>because using machines to build roads and work in gardens and forests and cleaning is more efficient.
In a theoretical scenario, maybe, but I wouldn't worry about it until we get close to this. At the moment the most efficient is building machines + plenty of resources + people.
I SEE where you are getting though, and saw it in the previous post also. It is actually a problem, yes. As a society, it would be good if you were able to improve things with the free time of people though, rather then send them home.
I would consider better environmentalism and resource consumption, for example, as something that could be improved.
Unfortunately I repair robots, I hope someday I can kick back and let a robot do this shit instead.
That's what my government does. But in return, you become government property even more than you are when you work.
I don't like slavery.
I have countless interests, plans and ideas. I'd be utterly happy if I could dedicate all my life to them. I have no time for them now (because of school and work) and I hate it.
Learn the ways of the Nigger and the ancient art of Porch-Fu
>In a theoretical scenario, maybe, but I wouldn't worry about it until we get close to this.
We are on the verge of replacing all taxi drivers and bus drivers and truck drivers with robotic vehicles.
You do understand how many millions of jobs that means are gone, right?
Personally
I would always want to learn, or rather, improve my human capital so that I can contribute to society, because without that, one can feel like they still have less worth or value
So I believe most people, have an inherent desire to contribute, or produce, a function, for society, regardless of what the state provides.
Maybe the real question should be what are the things which we should value that people produce or contribute in the function of society.
We need to destroy the ideology of democracy so that we can move on to a more efficient business model only that is not prone to rent seeking, bureaucracy and corruption.
The three industries that will resist automation the longest are services, research, and design.
If I had everything provided and didn't need to work to survive, I would still find things to do. At the moment I do woodwork in my spare time, so I'd probably take that up full time. It's not something that would make enough money to be a career now, but if that wasn't a concern then it'd be great.
>Would you still work,
Most people would still work, but the work would probably not be unpleasant.
we have these robots already
you just want them to not be brown and go back to mexico
...
Why do the robots have faces?
Better.
How would human shaped robots be more efficient than human shaped humans?
It works 24/7 and doesn't want healthcare or smoke breaks.
I have been a NEET since I was 16 years old. Both my parents have died, but I inherited a large sum of money and a big expensive house. I will most likely live without ever working a single day.
The real question is 'why would someone give you money for free for not working?'
If you aren't working, you aren't really necessary to society...
And yet half of the Western world's population lives off of welfare and gibmees. You knew that, right?
>post shit
No I would shit post, there is a difference.
Pic related.
If everything was provided for me, I'd "work" on things I enjoy. Some programming here, some writing there, maybe some art or videos of videogame highlights.
>spends time on Sup Forums instead
>employed user posts
On Sup Forums, you and I are in scarce supply.
But yeah, Player Piano answers every worthwhile question this thread could possibly provide.
