But what at first seemed like the right thing would end in a horror night, with three years in prison as a result.

Ion Rosu is from Romania and came to Sweden a few years ago with the goal of gaining a livelihood. During his first time here, he was forced to beg to support themselves. He later came in contact with a network, named Winter Night Gotland, engaged in non-profit aid activities targeting the Romanian Roma. He thus came in contact with the woman in the case, which was active in the network.
The woman was at that time married and lived in a house with husband and children. After a while allowed Ion Rosu and a companion to him to live in a caravan on the woman and her husband's property. They began to socialize with each other. The woman's husband ran his own business and was often away. The woman began to socialize more with Rosu. She appreciated his visitation especially as he - unlike her husband - often gave her compliments and confirmed her as a person. She had feelings for him, and they began a relationship without her husband's knowledge. Ion Rosu and his companion were allowed after a while to move into the villa. The relationship between Rosu and the woman then went on for quite a long time without her husband took some suspicions.
Rosu also became highly annoyed at her because he suspected that she was - contrary to what she claimed - continued to have sex with her husband. Fracas between them came ever closer and finally declared Rosu that he himself would take the step to inform her husband about their relationship by sending a picture of them in bed. This prompted the woman to tell the truth to her husband and ask for a divorce.

The woman and her new-found partner, Ion Rosu, moved to her own apartment. Ion Rosu became increasingly controlling and tried to limit her in various ways. This behavior became so hard that she finally chose to end, but she agreed that they would meet one last time - the evening of 22 June, 2016.
She managed to break free and ran out into the living room where she again began to scream loudly. He came up with her and pulled by force her into her own bed. There he sat astride her then, took on new stranglehold on her throat. She fought back as best she could but realized she could not succeed. He threatened to kill her and afterwards carry out her body in the woods. He also said that if she went to the police, he would hire someone to kill her. He then explained that he wanted to have sex with her one last time. The woman wept and declared that she would not have sex with him. After a while he took off his shirt and pulled down his pants. He then took his penis in her. He pulled out the penis and ejaculated in his pants. The woman had trouble understanding what it was that had happened and asked why what he had done. He replied that he "finished in the pants" to leave no evidence behind
The woman ran into the living room and shouted again for help. She even tried to get out of the house but were prevented by Ion Rosu. He was furious and forced again into her bed. There, he pressed a pillow over her head so she had trouble breathing. He also assigned her several blows to the head when it was covered by the pillow. He stated that the pillow did so she got some bruises. The victim was in some stage convinced that he would kill her.
After the lapse of several hours, he decided to walk away. On the way to the front door, he stopped and warned again the victim to go to the police. The woman screamed at him to leave. He then took hold of a knife that was in a knife block on the kitchen island and lunged at her. Full furious he pressed his hand with the knife to her throat and forced the her on the floor. She was in the state convinced that he would kill her. She again appealed to him to go away, and then he calmed down. He wiped the knife blade and handle and put the knife back into the knife block. He then went out of her home.
