Also as an EMT i can tell you about 50% of calls are about some fuck ODing and you have to narcan them. While it does get annoying, you hear the same story from each of them, how they were on pain meds from a doctor, then got cut off so they got them on the street, then those were too expensive so they switched to heroin.... Also their bf/gf is always on the same drug so if one quits then the other drags them back. Sad.

Back in the 90's there was a movement in the medical field to do more to treat pain, the easiest way to do this was to prescribe painkillers to anybody for the slightest reason. The interesting thing about this is it was known by the middle of last decade that it was a bad idea to be giving out opioids like candy, but no one did anything until the last few years when tens of thousands of white people started OD'ing and dying.
