Does anyone remember that tripfag named "athens" who would always debunk the arguments of this book whenever it was posted on /new/? This was around 2011 I guess

Not very.

Yes.

Pretty cool book. Have another.

Not very. It's poorly written and betrays a very shallow understanding of human history.

What does Sup Forums think of this book?

I haven't read it but I did the online course it's based on and got a lot of value out of it.

ManRidingZebra.jpg

>everything happened because of environment and geography
into the trash it goes

Its not redpilled at all

He has some pretty stupid arguments.

He ignores the effect of written language on technology in favor of saying stupid stuff like "It's impossible to domesticate buffalo"

Whatever happened to him? Did he ever return to Sup Forums?

Got around to reading this the other day, and I gotta say it's had a very positive impact on my life.

The concept is not terrible, but his methodology and reasoning in the book is

>Jared (((Diamond)))
make a guess

Did it fix your lisp or get you a 5/10 brown wife?

It's quite funny how Jared Diamond was shat on for this book by SJW.
He makes an extremely retarded poor case for saying that European dominance comes from "luck" of climate/geography. This is a retarded theory, but no matter how he insists on it giving no value to European people, it still tacitly follows that Europeans have done most of what is valuable in the world. So the man ended up with a reputation of white supremacist.

That book is the opposite of red-pilled, even though I hate that phrase.

amazon.com/Carnage-Culture-Landmark-Battles-Western/dp/0385720386

This is more on point but honestly if you want to understand something this fucking broad you're going to need to develop an understanding of history that is built on years of study - not just reading one book.

Kikes cant redpill

>Diamond was born in Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Both of his parents were from East European Jewish families who had emigrated to the United States.
That's about all I need to know.

There is no more red pilled book than pic related. I have read Bible and Quran, this is much more better than both of them. Every men must read.

>muh socialism and muh fedora
>aight

It's solid science but pretty dry reading

>remembering /new/ and browsing Sup Forums

I guess I shouldn't be talking, but still.

Suggested reading from my Spanish grandfather. He gave me the book as a present after I had a long discussion with him about conquistadors and the americas. This was back when I was a complete normie and believed in the "muh noble savage" meme.

jared diamond's earlier stuff is better. if you really want a redpilled anthropologist, try marvin harris

...

it's an ok entry level book.

>Turns out living like dhimmis wasnt all that cool

he was just spitting storm faggot propaganda and got BTFO over and over. If he came back not he'd be more effective.

Once upon a time this place wasnt filled with autistic wanna be confused shit eating meme zombies

See how deep the rabbit hole goes.

You'll never be a russoboo, again.

le epin stoicism man

Sounds promising. Muh islamic golden age and muh dark ages really need a thorough reexamination.

yeah that is ok. about half way through and I( lost the book somewhere.

>my big toe

its shit

>Teleports behind you
BOOOOOKTHSSSS

thoughts?

wtf im a baboon brain now

Love this meme

i've actually read it. some of the theories are interesting, difficult to prove/disprove them. in any case, it's an interesting read.

That book is entirely about geographical determinism and completely ignores other factors influencing the success of peoples. I would pair it with Race and Culture by Thomas Sowell, which is the first of a great trilogy which highlights the impact of different cultures.

>Decide to get into occultism
>start reading a few books
>My big TOE, Prometheus Rising, Graham Hancock
>turns out they're on the green pill list

You guys have no idea how insignificant the shit you normally talk about is.

Not even a little.

>there is no such thing as race goy, it's all just coincidence the darker you are the shittier your civilization.
>oy Vey goy check out this new DNA study proving Jew is a bonafide race!

Typical Jew subversive. He goes up on tdotr

Jared Diamond is the anti-thesis of redpill and is not even good reading if you're a leftist.

and pic related are far better books on anthropology

sounds cool, never heard of it.

Didn't think anyone would be shilling Chris Hedges on Sup Forums. He's a cool guy.

reading what you want and not following an approved list

Hedonistic shill pls go watch porn.

This book is fucking garbage. It is Jewish bullshit designed to make white people go "oh, we didn't work hard, we just got lucky".

The fucktard tries to simultaneously claim that intelligence is not genetic, while saying that S.E. Asians are the most intelligent due to genetics.

>implying occultism is relevant or significant in any way

top kek

Haven't read the book, but his lectures are very interesting.

It's bullshit.

Yeah most history professors, including my own last semester, pedal dumb BS about the so called golden age.

To all the zebraposters in a Diamond thread, there's a difference between taming and domestication. You shouldn't hate it for that. There are much better reasons to hate it.

where tf is How To Win Friends And Influence People, The Art Of War, The Art Of Peace, Be Here Now, The Undiscovered Self, Meditations, Propaganda, such a fucking newfag wannabe edgy list.

but moby dick is a dope read, then watch into the deep. probably already read it though.

got there before me

This nigga is alright with his Robert Wilson ans Carl Jung, but the rest is dog shit

More redpills per page than anything I've ever read. Almost pol the book

>complaining about newfag wannabe shit
>posts How To Win Friends and The Art of War

...

What I don't get is how he didn't see the parallel.

Two species seperated geographically over a long period of time still capable of interbreeding. One group is easily domesticated (capable of doing work for the greater good) one largely (though not entirely) incapable of being useful in any way.

Main difference are phenotype and bone structure.

In case you can't tell I'm saying humans are horses and Africans are zebras.

no, not even diamond's theory at at all. He stole the concept and ran with it himself, but its still wrong. The shaping of our societies is still argued. Some say culture (i.e. language, rituals, specializations), while others claim environment shapes our decision making. There is no simple explanation.

t student

He actually claimed that Papua New Guineans are the most intelligent. He is stupid.

Yes there is a difference between taming and domestication: Domestication happens over the long-term.

Aurochs were not placid creatures, nor were wild boars. Africa has a massive diversity of animals to choose from to being domestication; they are even using some of them now, despite the fact they have only recently begun domestication.

then watch watership down n plague dogs n rats of nhym. and you be all fucked up. lol

currently sitting next to the head of the humanities school at UCLA, should I tell him about this?

they are simple and highly effective you silly man. Sup Forums needs help with social skills and military strategy dont you know?

That's right. I knew it was one of them but couldn't remember the specifics.

I don't think he has ever actually met a papua new guinean. They have an average IQ around 80.

Do it for the lulz.

That isn't the point of the book. It claims that what make us exceptional is harsh environment, scarce resources, and our circumstances. It claims we adapted and changed our surroundings to serve us, while people in different locations didn't.
What is so bad about it?

>Implying it isn't simply neglecting a very important aspect of intelligence, biology

It's actually a trinity of all of these variables that has created human history.

It genuinely hurts to know I will never romantically kiss Lauren Southern and then engage in missionary sex for the sole purpose of procreation.

Don't be fucking daft. Domestication is completely different from taming. You can tame wolves, but it's another thing to domesticate them into dogs.

African fauna have evolved alongside humans for our entire species existence and our many hominid precursors as well. They have far longer evolutionary experiences with us which creates some very important differences. For one, they are much warier about ancient human hunting techniques. As humans left Africa, the same hunting techniques would cause mass extinctions of megafauna in every region that humans entered, and yet, megafauna continue to exist in Africa, not because Africans such at spearchucking, but because the native animals are savvier and more wary of humans in general. They know we are dangerous and to keep their distance. If you go to an island like the Galapagos, you can walk right up to the local fauna and they don't give a fuck.

Furthermore, because African fauna evolved along side humans, they have more common pathogens that are able to infect both them and us. As a result, attempts to domesticate African fauna essentially act as a reservoir for infectious diseases like sleeping sickness transmitted by the Tse Tse fly. This is a severe deterrent to corralling herds of animals for domestication. This is an incredibly important factor.

If you actually READ the book instead if LARPing as an intellectual you'd know its not redpilled at all
Marcus Aurelius was anti-imperialist, disliked Caesar.

You can't domesticate Zeb-

>literally posting on a hyper-sigil that memed an ancient deity into existence and influenced international politics.

Fucking wew, lad.

>there's a difference between taming and domestication.
Once tamed just control what they fuck and you have domestication. That's all there is to it.

>i have all the answers
fuck off, we after happenings. we don't know shit, and we ain't shit.

>/new/sman

Gtfo oldfag this is a reddit cancer board now :^)

I never said I have all the answers. Part of occultism is just accepting that you don't know a damn thing.

This book helped redpill me

In 2006 Steyn had already taken notice of the shit that was going on with the Islamification of the West

FAIR came out against it as "inarguably Islamophobic" so you know it's good

Is there more to this?

>Have to put fucking blind-folds on their eyes
>Zebra can be Domesticated

It likely took an expert on equine animals to come up with that.

You haven't actually read the book. I can tell.

His main argument lies in geographic limitations to trade. He says that bodies of water prevent trade (???), which allowed Europe to thrive because they couldn't bring trade to Africa. Meanwhile he completely overlooks the role of mountains in preventing trade.

It is completely ass-backwards. Bodies of water actually help trade by allowing trading vessels to be viable.

He parrots over and over again that whites are not genetically more intelligent than blacks. Then says Papua New Guineans are genetically smarter.

He argues that European animals could be domesticated, but African animals could not. This is blatantly false. Many African animals have begun the process of domestication in recent history, and some are beginning to outperform their European counterparts in some areas.

Africa had buffalo, dogs, boars, zebras, camels, and elephants to name a few. All are capable of being domesticated. Africans did not even attempt to domesticate them even once.

Bought it years ago, didn't even start it. Got it on audible and only got 5 min in. Why am I having a hard time with this?
