No educated man or women NEEDS a firearm of any kind for protection from a fellow human being. Firearms trivialize morbid violence and aggression and dehumanize both the owner (aggressor) and the innocent (his target) by equaling the value of their lives to a simple pull of a small level. If you are afraid of other people, try talking to them. Disarm them with your words and reason. No assailant would persist once you connect with him or her using the warm of language to remind them you both are the same. A society without firearms is a society without hate and violence.
