Here is what I've seen on DeVos.
Her Pros: (in my opinion)
1. She has experience in leadership roles and has a business way of running things. Hopefully this coincides with a no nonsense attitude like Trump.
2. She is pro-charter schools. What this is, is simple. Private Schools do not receive what lefty media outlets call "federal funds", but chart schools do. But these funds are not "federal", they aren't state. In fact what a charter school does is, if your child goes there the money you pay in property tax that supports the public school (usually 80% of your PT) would go to the charter. It makes sense. Why pay to support public schools when you receive no benefit from it.
3. Increase in charter schools would allow increased competition in schooling. Which in any basic economics course competition is good. It drives efficiency and cost cutting. This hurts the Unions that rely on tenure and other licensing schemes to keep teachers employed and keep costs high. The reason why schools are underfunded is because Administrators are overpaid and so are teachers. Not to even mention the impossibility of funding future and present pension schemes.
Bad:
1. she has a lot of ties to Republican donations. Which money in politics is hard to disseminate.
2. overall she does lack experience, but no one is prepared to run the entire education system of the country till they start. So not really an argument.

The operating budget probably isn't even going to change, it's going to turn into vouchers though, so shitty schools will be emptied and the teachers won't have anywhere to work. They'll be realigned to still functioning schools because they have seniority in the union--that's why they are shitty teachers and are still teaching.
After they have been realigned to the functioning school, that school will fail and get shutdown.
We'll now have a really nice school choice system going, but about this time we'll have another change election and the Dems might get in charge and fuck it back up. I dunno if there will be enough time to kill the union tbqh desu.
