That is false

You can't just burn down forests and not have them regrow to some extent when It starts raining

Australia has poor soil, few river systems, is very flat and lies in the desert latitudes. There wasn't rainforests and then suddenly there wasn't. Most of Australia has always been desert/arid grassland

Has Australia ever thought of pulling off a massive geoengineering project to irrigate the desert?

Theoretically, a man made mountain range in the middle of the country would be enough to increase rain fall suitable for forests.

>Brisbane
>Very cold winter
>mild summer
That map can eat all the dicks in the world.

Do it often enough/long enough and it'll happen.

No one is willing to put money towards it. There are a bunch of things we could do.

yea so you would have to start building inward instead of starting in the middle of the desert, the process would take decades if not centuries

why not just do something like this ayy

>Australia
>Very Cold Winter

We've done some irrigation and damming that's made farming possible but there's never been an attempt to try and terraform the desert

It's take way too much effort for the return

There's enough land left in the green subtropical and oceanic areas without having to push further inland. There just isn't enough people to warrant trying.

Also this

It's not just a matter of irrigating, It's a matter of building mountains. The only green areas in Australia are because the mountain ranges near the coast trap the rain.

Why? No one lives there except some kangaroo's and cows.
