Responsible goverments recognize the need for healthcare and both make sure that most required generics are produced en masse and available very cheaply, and for drugs that cant be procuduced same way due to license stuff and such finance the threatments themselves - mostly by taxing foreign pharma in first place.

And for a lot of drugs, the prices are only that high because of pharma lobbying to use specific drugs in threatment, when there are far cheaper alternatives.

And over the past couple years I have had a few elective surgeries (not a tranny) that would have cost $100k+ without insurance, and I paid ~$5k out of pocket
