I actually fucking hate dream theater, but this.
wtf I loved dream theatre and completely forgot about them, but I think I'll start listening to them again now
wtf, octavarium 10/10 album now
Looks like kike
Most Ashkenazi jews are like 60% italian genetics.
Don't be silly Russia. Looks like Dinaricized Alphinid to me.
OK, major metal head here, but I've always cringed at dream theater's vocals. Which album should I put on, in honor of his bravery?
Image and Words which is their only good album.
Wasn't Dream Theater 'progressive metal'
progressive doesn't mean what you think it means in this context
Yes
Oh man this breaks my heart. I loved him prior to reading this. I had no idea.
Damn, bet he'd be broken up about that
Turn on your 15 minute guitar solos right now

anyone remember john petrucci's psycho exercises? fuckin absolute madman.
Can we all agree that Jeff Loomis is an objectively better guitarist than Petrucci?
Yep. John is a conservative. I came across his personal jewbook page a year or two ago. It had all the typical conservative likes and shares.
That shit was great.
Who Rock Discipline here?

Pull me under pull me under
great list
It is known, that DT are pizza bagels
Loomis and Petrucci each have their own strengths
Adam02's videos were so funny, they're like 10 years old
WHo fucking cares? There can be more than one painting in the museum, and you can like more than one. Putrucci is a successful musician who entertains people, leave the football rivalry bullshit out of it, and stop beinga fucking douchebag. It's music, not a fucking dick measuring contest.
Also - Jeff Loomis thinks you're a dick, and wants you to shut the fuck up.
based, I don't like metal, but I've always respected him as a guitarist though.
Vocal-wise, Falling Into Infinity is the least cringe worthy.
I was into DT, I got turned on early from friends on the east coast who saw them in the clubs. I finally got to see them on the Images and Words tour - the band live is fucking amazing, but I despise their vocalist. One, he's chubby, which is fine, but he was wearing clothes so tight he looked like a sausage about to pop, and two, he has no real power to his voice and he struggles to match what he does in the studio, and even turned up in the mix, he sounds horrible. He was struggling so much his face was beet red, and I honestly was worried he was gonna stroke out. (As a humorous note, petrucci backed up over his pedal board, tripped, and dumped onto his ass mid-solo. To give the guy credit, he barely missed a note and was grinning sheepishly at the crew and Myung and Portnoy.)
They lost me after Portnoy left. It got too self-indulgent, and just took too much fucking effort to listen to, a run through of a whole album mentally was like a hard workout. Rudess is a fucking genius, but the material just failed to grab me, Portnoy's absence is blatant, and I just can't take the singer anymore. I just cringe at it now.
If they replaced that dude with a Chris Cornell type singer, i'd be a fan for life. They have an incredibly talented, dynamic band, and they put that Jon Anderson wanna be with his lame 'breathless whispering" and lame singing from the throat bullshit. It's just a goddamned shame.
