That hasn't been the case in Seattle's regions previously. Though it's not clear how effects will be for Washington State making the minimum wage hike state-wide, Seattle has been a microcosm in the last many months showing no positive signs. Higher than average business closing and increased unemployment. Overall the effect hasn't been positive for works when things are averaged.
So this story might be an isolated incident, but we'll be watching with interest to see how this all plays out. Prior history shows is unclear if it will be good or bad in the long run.

No, that's not really how this works. Goods have relative value to their utility, and scarcity. For instance, increasing minimum wage logically wouldn't affect sales of caviar or diamonds.
Assuming this is related to minimum wage and not just "Niggers like pretzels or some shit" what you are seeing is the gap between realization of value and adjustments of pricing. What this means is that for the consumer the idea that their wages are worth more dollars hasn't quite hit yet, and thus view their new money as free money for the same. Likewise, businesses around are questioning the elasticity of their pricing. You could simply raise the minimum wage and keep relaying on this gap between realization of value and pricing changes to keep spending high, but eventually it does become simply inflation.

Because not everything inflates at the same rate. Goods that are utterly inelastic will see inflation's affects strongly because the new money supply can be demanded at the register while higher value goods or long term goods will have to seriously debate input value versus future sale value.
