Gassing them would not be believable, but maybe respirators could be removed, and once at high altitude, plane loses pressure and passengers asphyxiate. Then the plane lands in a UNATCO controlled airport, and bodies are disposed of.

What if there's a huge chimpout in each plane as the rumor spreads and they check if respirators are still there? Then
