Wants to greatly reduce the government's influence in education.

Liberals are triggered by this, but it is a good thing.

OP claiming ID

wants to degrade the power of the teacher's unions. wants to provide school choice. inner city parents can choose to send their kid to a non failing charter school subsidized by the government. the charter school is a private enterprise and uses the free market to make itself as competing and efficient as possible. basically outsource education out of the corrupt broken current system. plus teacher's unions love failing schools. it gives them an excuse to ask for more money and legitimize their jobs

Can somedy give me a quick report on this woman?

won't privatizing it make it shittier though? Also what's this about her wanting to give government funding to private schools?

She's a great choice, her purpose is to do such a terrible job that we'll get rid of The Department of Education.

>won't privatizing it make it shittier though?

Maybe for niggers, spics and poor people LOL!

liberals say she wants to get money out of public schools and into private schools

anyone can confirm?

a private money making enterprise has an actual reason to improve itself. it would probably be more cost effective for the states to pay private charter schools to teach kids for them instead of wasting money doing it themselves in a big bloated beaurocracy

Nope, look at what Texas did. They allowed parents to pull their kids out of failing public schools in Dallas, Houston and San Antonio and have that local money go to the charter instead. Charters are thriving there now and the kids are much better off.

>won't privatizing it make it shittier though?

Why would that be the case? Most private schools are orders of magnitude better than public schools. Competition tends to favor the best.

At the very least it would become more independent and hence less of a brainwashing machine. Public education is dependent on big government for funding, so it is in their direct interest to promote big government to their students.

> Also what's this about her wanting to give government funding to private schools?

There would still need to be some sort of program to help people who really can't afford education. She promotes a voucher system that can also be spent at public schools.

you just need to be careful with it and keep people honest and accountable. we don't want to end up with a situation like we had with private prisons corrupting judges to give maximum sentences

Private Schools mean competition and responsibility between teachers right?

As someone who grew up and worked in private schools unlike half the dream-obsessed faggots in these threads I can tell you 90% of private schools are horrifyingly bad.

>Non-standard "curriculum" that pursues the personal agenda of the faculty and administration. Teaching important skills to students is secondary.
>Zero self-regulation. No disciplinary action towards anyone at all, because teachers fear reprimand from the parents of the chastised children, whose money is their meal ticket. All punishment takes the form of "personal talks" with the student to make them promise they "won't do it again." There is no limit to the number of times these talks will happen, empty threats without follow-up, so long as that child's parents keep paying to send the child there.

A private school is a business, and nine out of ten businesses value profit over service and will provide the bare minimum of service for the sake of maximizing profit. They "teach" your kid and they're relatively safe from the gang violence and shit that plagues public schools in large population areas, but it's a breeding ground for drug abuse, individual-on-individual violence and encouragement of bad learning habits.

just moved to Texas a month ago

heard about them abolishing sanctuary cities

why is texas literally the most based state ever?
and we apparently lead the way in uncucking the US

just tell the school that if they want the state's business they need to agree to teaching certain course material are you retarded?

So literally what they do with public schools?

GET YOUR GOVERNMENT HANDS OFF OF MY CHILD'S EDUCATION REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Competition between businesses is good.

Competition WITHIN a business is very, very bad. That's called infighting, and doesn't promote the improvement of the self, but the sabotage of your competition. Just take a look at the disaster that is Sears/Kmart for why that business model doesn't work with people who should otherwise be cooperating.

YOU GET A GUN! YOU GET A GUN! EVERYBODY GETS A GUN! FUCKING BEARS, BITCHES!

She wants parents to be able to choose which school they send their children to and if it happens to be a charter school, parochial school, or otherwise, for the funds which would've been spent sending the child to a public school to go to that other school to cover their cost of tuition.

This gives the children of the poor and especially minorities the opportunity to send their children to charter schools they could otherwise never afford instead of seeing them trapped in a failing inner city public school with a culture of violence and destruction.

Opposition to DeVos comes from public-sector teacher's union (NEA and AFT) bosses, who are afraid of losing their money, power, and influence over state and local politics. It just so happens these public-sector unions seize upon the taxpayer dollars paid to public school teachers to fund the Democratic Party, which is why the Democratic Party protects them.

Mrs. DeVos wants to end this corrupt bargain and see to it that all children have a chance at a better education.

I never understood american public schools, are you forced to attend to the nearest from you?

No and thats the problem. The "bus" the lower-caste into the white neighborhoods to provide "more diversity" (ie. increase crime / rape).

The problem is in the 'bad areas' the residents do not pay any taxes, so the schools are underfunded. So this mechanism is a way to steal money from productive neighborhoods to subsidize the lower-caste untouchables.

>won't privatizing it make it shittier though?
Charter schools currently result in equal or better outcomes by all measures. This includes predominantly black charter schools in inner-city neighborhoods where states have already adopted school choice.

>Also what's this about her wanting to give government funding to private schools?
State and local government combined currently spend approximately $13,000 per student per year on education in the United States. If a student goes to a private school which is not receiving government funds, it costs government $0 and instead costs the parents anywhere from about $6000 per year on the low end to upward of $40,000 per year on the high end. Poor parents cannot afford this and must send their children to public schools. There is no reason for the government not to offer to use the same money which would be spent educating them in a public school to send them to a private school if the parent believes it would produce a better outcome.

In short, the money would follow the student.

The teachers unions are mad as fuck because they will be held accountable now.

Teachers unions are the scum of the fucking earth and should have been first in the camps

the TU's are really beyond stupid. They allow completely unnecessary people to join (bus drivers? cafeteria workers?)...then they complain about 'muh money runnin out' - when they are giving away a huge percentage of the budget to free healthcare and 30 yr pension on a bus driver who retired in the 1990's

In a microcosm, it literally is an example of the problems of socialism / communism in women run societies.
