Some one has been buying mass amounts twitter traffic on environmental and antitrump articles.
Nothing new about bots but the scale I've found is unreal.
I made the connection of thousands of bots after someone fucked up and went from only liking and retweeting to all saying the same phrase.
I've made quite a few discoveries so far that'll I'll dump.
Brayden Nelson
First of it appear that almost entirety of The Hills twitter likes and Retweets are from bots. (All anti trump aticles)
The question is: is it The Hill or and outside party
If it is the Hill that's some major fraud.
Christian Morgan
Next odd thing I found was that there are cluster of bots doing separate progressive issues along with porn bots and some Spanish bots.
Generally these bots only retweet certain progressive issues (only feminist retweets, only environment, only anti trump, etc etc) BUT I've found some progressive tweets that have thousand of retweets from bots across every topic spectrum even the porn bots. Hundreds if not thousands on a single tweet.
Some of the women's March tweets and "viral" progressive tweets seem 100% astroturfed.
Brody Hughes
Wasn't all that process completed like a year ago?
Aaron Anderson
Here's where it gets interesting.
Considering the variety of these tweets it's appears to be some marketing company. If it's not porn or generic celebrity retweets, Progressive causes use it almost exclusively.
Many of these bots follow Major Democrats law makers along with the Sierra Club and few other Environmental
However this is where it gets interesting. Despite being so dominated by the left. Rick Wilson and Paul Ryan are followed by allot of the bots.
Joseph Clark
That's the thing. There's been massive uptick recently
The bots don't act together on every topic. Like there are various levels that can be used. Some bots retweet multiple times a day others once a month.
My theory is that there are levels that the company behind the bots can use when pushing a topic.
Ie on the lowest level only a small percentage (15 or less bots) of a cluster will retweet or like something. While on the highest level every bot and across multiple cluster (porn, environmental, proimigration, Spanish, femnist, etc etc) will like and retweet something.
Camden Torres
The Hill, George Takei, Sierra Club, Democratic Party Twitters, Potus Rouge Staff, even some goverment agencies, among a few other
Have hall been boosted a great deal by these bots.
Need ideas to help find what company is behind the bots and who specially is buying them.
Daniel Richardson
Interesting...
Lucas Lopez
I need to get on my computer to organize all the info and connection I've found.
Haven't we found that Liberal news sites in the past month or so have gotten about 50% traffic from China up from ~5% last year.
I wonder if this astroturf campaign is related to that.
Julian Morgan
More than likely, don't many of these companies also have ties to chinese investors as well?
Nicholas Scott
>implying Trump hasn't done the same for the post 2 fucking years
How new are you?
Robert Long
Yes. But what's odd is that these bots have recently start only retweeting left wing articles and people. Specifically Environmental (most Dakota access pipeline related) and Generic antitrump articles.
Less focus but still significant has been the women's March and it's various organizers.
Owen Stewart
Deflecting is not an argument.
Hudson Cook
Bots are to be expected across the board but this is unique.
What makes this significant is the scale, the speficity, whose being followed/retweet, and the timing. Many of these bots were dormant for months and only in the past few weeks starting tweeting many times a day.
porn bots, tech bots, celebrity bots, political bots, even some foreign language ones have all started going for progressive topics.
Someone is pouring a lot of time and money into this.
Jayden Peterson
Nobody can compare the original cauldron of creative chaos that is Sup Forums to CTR or Becki.bots as illustrated in pic related and say they are the same thing. You might as well claim that your opponents do not exist, which would still not get you anywhere. Bots do not create memes and paid agents can only shoe-horn Martin Schulz's schnozz into nonsensical plagiarisms.
Jordan Brown
Who can do this? Who stands to gain? >Around the Han, keep your guard on!
Chase Harris
twitter is a mistake
Austin Lee
Until I start putting the various overlaps into an excellent sheet I won't be able to find a clear connection.
My guess right now is that it's either one progressive group buying the bots or consider the range of topics this bot company has just become the business of choice among insiders to astroturf.
Does anyone have any connection or background from previous threads that could help while I look into this?
Gabriel Reyes
bump
Charles Campbell
The more resistance to every single thing Trump does, the less he gets to do, like start a trade war with China.
Jordan Reed
Maybe it's the same web traffic padding company boosting the NYT and Guardian?
Failing lefty corporations probably had a convention and chose to rip off investors en masse?
Christian Morgan
>who can do this
Bots are nothing new. Probably some company in the third wold selling them for various things. Pay X and we will have you number of randomly selected bots do Y over a Z amount of time. Though possible it's done in house but from the various types of bots I've founded connected this isn't likely.
>who stands to gain
It depends. If it's new sites. They stand to gain more views and increase site traffic by falsifying popularity. If it's a political group they can use the faux popularity to pressure others. I'm sure you've heard things like "look how many people are sharing this. Wow we should do something"
Aaron Rodriguez
The corporations are only the enablers, third parties do the ground work likely without their knowledge.
Nathaniel Foster
These places like The Hill are just boiler room hasbara operations.
Luis James
document and record your shit as you go. Infographs explaining what people are looking at instead of just random pictures with no context.
Xavier Gonzalez
know that twitter could stop this any time they wanted.
Josiah Morales
>along with porn bots people click on sexy things and the bot herders know it
Brayden Edwards
I plan too tonight. I have some work I have to get done first. Spent about 3 hours digging earlier and kept find new connections. Stopping for now or I'll loose track. Only can do so much on a phone. Hopefully I can finish early enough to have it done by tomorrow.
I hope others start looking through the bots while I do. So we can see if anything was missed or if I made an error. The original search is a good start since that tweet was done by a few hundred of them.
David Jones
good lord. after that chick went through puberty it seems her entire body is slowly collapsing in on itself. mercy.
