Irish living in British Ulster

Anyone else struggle to find pride in their country for similar reasons?

>Feel like Ireland have very little to be proud

I'm Irish and don't feel that way at all. I'm more proud to be Irish than British. These days any paki or jigaboo can be considered British it's a meaningless civic identity. Even real Brits don't embrace it they're either English, Scottish or Welsh.

Its more the historical sentiment or the idea that I belong to a country that has a real presence in the past.

As an irish man the only history our country truly has is fighting against Britain, or really fighting in general. There have always been formidable Irish soldiers, but is that all we had to offer? Sure, some cultural contributions, but that's hardly on par with the likes of France, Spain, Italy, Britain, or even any of the viking faggots.

I don't hate Britain or England. I have a distaste for loyalists, but only because they chimp out a lot.

Ireland was known as the land of saints and scholars and preserved Christianity whilst Britain fell. Rich history of literature. I guess it's difficult since most of the significant stuff would have been written in Gaelic and then disappeared as English took over. Do you like Gaelic music? Sport? Have you travelled around the rest of the island?

Yes, Ireland wasn't an imperial nation and I think this is a very good thing, so would you if you could see the current state of London. Ireland owned the Viking faggots so fuck them. Brian Boru?

English history wasn't significant til they got conquered by the Normans anyway (before the Irish were invaded by them too).

Also, just to add. I know you lads in Ulster are probably pretty disconnected from whats happening in Britain but honestly if you could see the current state of England I think you'd rather be tied to Ireland. I'm just saying this objectively. Travel to London or Birmingham or any other English town or city and it will be as far removed from Ulster as possible. Maybe the union was appealing a hundred years ago but Britain has changed ALOT even in the last 15/20 years. Alot.

if catholic, be loyal to ireland
if protestant, be loyal to brittania

/thread

How about no, since the whole Catholic/Protestant thing doesn't apply anymore you gormless yank fuck.

"""protestants""" and """catholics""" is used to describe a cultural divide, not a religious one. Even then, there are catholic unionists and protestant republicans. Religion just does not play a hand any more, there are fuck all people here that are genuinely religious. It's why on our job forms it says whether you come from a catholic/protestant "background" as opposed to what religion you are.

Now go find another Éire thread to tell people how cool the IRA are, you faggot.

>knows absolutely nothing about Irish history

The Protestant/Catholic divide hasn't been relevant for a hundred years it's just played up in the north to keep them divided. Parnell was a Protestant, one of the most celebrated figures of Irish independence. ROI literally has fucking Orange on its flag to acknowledge that influence.

You have the IRA at least.

You're British. Im officialy revoking your irish card.

...

Be proud to be Irish. Fuck Britain.

I'd put money on you being Irish by technicality alone.

IRA are a mixed bag. They had a just cause in the 70s but then just chimped out.

They're Marxist though

Why though

I'm half Irish and Catholic but I could give a rat's ass about a bunch of drunken leprechauns. Rule Britannia

Taboo is a motherfucking good shit, man. You can do good shit, mudslim niggers. Every time I watch a new episode I want to say to you, pajeet mudslim niggers, that you can do good stuff. This shit is very good.

Just picked up "history of the Irish race" from my uncle. Wanted to learn about my half Irish side so I can teach my children something since my mother found it unimportant to tell me anything about that side of my culture

what is there to being Irish other than alcoholism and starving to death?

That's all you fucks focus on, there's a lot more to Irish history and Irish western cultural contributions than just based soldiers. Dig deeper. Our literature for starters had huge influence in the west.

>Constant identity crisis between being "proud" to be British and "proud" to be Irish
god you're a faggot

It's just humans being human. Doesn't matter the name they give themselves.

Roll back enough generations and all white people are related
