Don't be so sure. I'd argue that it was the 1989 multiculturalism act that killed us. Canada was still very white and quite conservative for decades after Pearson. Trudeau also forced his policies on us, millions of Canadians didn't agree with what he was doing. You also have to take into context that multiculturalism was more of an effort to dilute Quebec natioanlism than it was to fill us with muzzies and chinks.
The last nail in our coffin was when joe clark won in '79 but the liberals bitched about it so much another election was called and they just barely won. Then trudeau went on to open the floodgates in the 80s and it all went downhill

the reason there's so many foreign students here is because their tuition costs are so high in the first place. Money is no object to the child of a Saudi prince or Chicom functionary, but universities can charge them double tuition, so they take as many was possible. Forcing universities to charge foreigners the EXACT same price as Canadians would probably do much more to prevent locals from getting pushed out
