I've actually got a tumblr of my own, and have fought tooth and nail with some of these SJW's who thought the militaria posts that I made were "offensive" and "sexist" (despite my obsession with the all-female 588th Night Bomber Regiment of the Soviet air force in WWII).
I can tell you firsthand: Fighting this particular breed of SJW is nigh impossible. Almost nothing works against them - conventional logic totally fails, making them angry to bait a mistake doesn't work because they thrive off of their own anger (and ignore their own mistakes), and even destroying their arguments hand-to-hand doesn't work, because they repeat them like brainwashed soldiers in interrogation.
The advertising infrastructure of the site has to be destroyed. I've fought against them for well over two years, but made very little progress. I don't care about my page enough not to wish fervently for the death of the whole rotten site.

It's not just about sharing your own work - I could get a flickr/instagram/whatever or create a site for that - but also seeing others' within a massive interconnected network and constantly being exposed to new work, past and present, via who you follow.
