Build your own!

You'll probably fail and just be a regular 11b or c. The washout rate for brand new privates in the SF pipeline is ridiculously high

I wouldn't, unless you are already scoring 300s in pt tests or were some kind of track and field prodigy through high school. The attrition rate is ungodly. Sign a contract for a useful skill like a 25 series, and after osut drop a packet for sfas. That way you arent stuck as a grunt infantryman like 99% of 18x wannabes.

This. Think of it like building a computer.

youtube.com/watch?v=glk1qMbj7S0

you wont make it

you fail and you'll end up in the 82nd....

I was a track and field prodigy, and on the swim team. I'm already certified for solo jumps out of an airplane.

Mostly I just want to know if I'll fucking hate military life or if blowing up Muslims and being in the elite will make up for it.

I wouldn't recommend it. They have barracks at Mackall exclusively for 18x failures. At least being in the Army already you will have a reasonable understanding of where you're at.

Many people sign option 40 and 18x and realize that they're in over their head.... even with a good pt score.

As previously mentioned, you'd be better getting some time in a MOS and then dropping a packet. Infantry is well, infantry. The entire army is gay as fuck. You might as well do something with smarter people than infantry and with a TS clearance requirement. Then go if you're still interested.

or just buy a manufacturer's stock platform..
building an AR for someone who may not have even shot one is retarded

18X is a fucking meme.

active duty or national guard 18x?

Don't do it. Those 18x contracts were some of the worst shit to come out of the big Army in the last 20 years

The idea of doing something epic has always been in the back of my mind, I've been a sponsored climber, mountaineering and shit, tons of time jumping out of a plane, love guns, started pre-med in college at one point, can keep up physically with about anyone. I always told myself if life went to shit I'd try for special forces.

Last year I had a baby die and got a divorce then moved across country, so I'm sort of at a "fuck it" point. I love the idea of jumping out of planes and getting shot at, I love the idea of using crazy weaponry and doing insane missions.

I'm not a big fan of getting stuck somewhere I don't like and not being able to pursue what I really want. So if I washed out into infantry I'd probably hate my life.

This is correct. Do not go unless your already like 24. Lots of kids think they will make it because im track n field prodigy and blah blah. Its mental fortitude much more and even then you can be perfect and STILL not make it through the peer review if your team doesn't like you. Like user said get a MOS first then put in packet when you have a couple years of exp.

God dammit...

Active duty of course.
I'm not cut to be a Seal or anything, but I know I'm better than most guys on the field.

I'm 26, that was actually another hang up, if I get stuck as infantry into my 30's and never get solid deployments I'd hate life.

I have enough friends who are active duty and even a former Green Beret that I have a basic idea of what to expect.

>So if I washed out into infantry I'd probably hate my life.
Yeah, you probably would. There's a bit of luck factor in making it through though. The military is just different from civilian life. Hard to put into words. You may have a solid background... it still doesn't involve the green weenie yet though.

18x is a roll of the dice.

This should be relegated to /k/
Are these weapon/gun threads popping up to try and paint pol as inciting violence? I seem to notice more of them lately.

Saged.

>I always told myself if my life went to shit I'd try special forces.

sf is not a last resort option

Military life is shit, at least that's my impression. I have an intense need for competition and honestly I think I'm a bit of a sociopath, ended my marriage. Getting paid to be hard as fuck and killing randos sounds appealing.

I had a family, I don't have that anymore. I don't want that anymore. I want to chase the other part of my personality.

Lol fuck you, not everyone is a shill. Wanting to be in the military and asking on a board where there may be tons of current and former military guys, that's why I'm here.

well good luck making it through the psych testing then Timothy McVeigh.

If I would live in clapistan I would get pic rel or a AR15

>build your own
>an ACR
Yeah no fuck off normie no-guns

If you say you aren't good enough to go SEAL, why the fuck would you ask about 18X?

>Getting paid to be hard as fuck and killing randos sounds appealing.

savage

do it pussy

Thinking about joining the U.S. Army? Call 1-888-550-ARMY (2769) to receive more information or learn the phone number and location of the nearest recruiter.

From my understanding the current road to being a Seal has a much higher wash out rate than 18x, a buddy of mine made it to hell week and washed out. I just thought my chances of making it through would be higher.

>I'm not cut to be a Seal or anything, but I know I'm better than most guys on the field.
>Wants to be an 18Xray

Not to be mean, but you're way too dumb to be SF. You belong in the 82nd with the other mouth breathers.

Yeah 26, tough call bro. Go for it why not. I was USN SWCC for 5 years then contracted for another 6 years living mostly near Bragg when inconus. Made a lot of 7th group buddies. My brother took the 18x package and washed out twice. The first time was the nav test at the end and the second he happened to get grouped with all officers who then all voted for eachother on the peer review part and threw the enlisted guy under the bus. If you do wash out to 82nd which is like Harlem... it will be a tough road out especially being white. If you can get 15w instead of 18x you will have an easier time and actually could still end up on a SF team.

a 15W is not a member of an ODA. That would be SF support... big difference.... even if they try to pretend it isn't

A lot of friends have told me if they could do it again, they'd go otc or rotc first. Is that something you would recommend?

>the U.S. Army shills on Sup Forums

I think he's making fun of the fact that Mr. Highspeed civilian thinks he's an ice cold killer ready to join his SF bros on mission ASAP. When in actuality he'd be his OSUT platoon's power bottom.

SF is for people who have families they're willing to go the extra 120% to die for.

Join the Marines or something dude.

Lol I think it would be the most brutal, intense training I could imagine and I would probably hate every second of it and feel in over my head.

I just think I could get through it.

its a very long difficult pipeline, youd be better off starting as infantry and actually spending time in the army then throwing an SF packet in after you get a deployment in desu

SF are professional killers

so be aware that you will become a different person entirely. you will become someone concerned with killing people in the most efficient way possible- literally

assuming you might become a weirdo

holy fuck you're retarded

how would you know

You won't make it unless you're fit as fuck and/or tough as nails. I am not talking about "Bro I can bench 315" fit, but can do 30 pull ups and run 3 miles in 18 minutes fit. The big bulky fags usually wash out first.

When it comes down to it though, its your heart and will that gets you through. Can you keep pushing through when your entire body is sore, your thighs are chaffed raw and bleeding, you're wet and freezing, covered in sand and you haven't slept in three days? I know I sure wouldn't want to, the little I did with the marines fucking sucked enough.

If you think you got the balls for it, step on up.

:3

>asking if he should join the military on Sup Forums
>as an 18x

Life isn't a fucking video game you idiot.

If you want to be Le ebin hardcore special forces like in call of duty, go get an airborne infantry contract, serve it out, work your ass off during, then try to go 18 series. It's the best way to do it, but you won't.

Yeah no shit its not the same as being SF but you still get to live most of that army lifestyle. My brother did that exactly, couldn't make the cut but still got on a 5th group team as support and gets to come in at 10am in pt's and pretty much do what they do. WORLD of difference coming from 82nd nigger town... and you get some pay bonus. If you wash out thats about the best you can do.

Fucking aus fag thinks he's asking about guns.
>oh no's a picture of a g-g-g-gun!
Fuck off to /mlp/ fgt.

...

Also after reading more of the thread, you sound like you might be the right type. 18x gets a lot of candidates and it becomes a dick stroking contest at the end, pretty much. Officers win out over enlisted babbies, its the nature of the game. When I was going through field med as a corpsman they were pretty desperate for Marine Recon, even at Lejeune they were recruiting constantly for it. That was a few years ago though, and the Marines were downsizing pretty hard. But if you get in, chances are better you'll make it in recon than 18x. Only problem is Marine infantry is way shittier than Army infantry in regards to quality of life and deployments. You'll be a less miserable Army 11b than a Marine 0311 if you washed out. Being an officer would make it all much more bearable though.

You're getting close to the max age, so you better start talking to recruiters like now if you want to make it happen. Make your intentions clear, get everything they promised in a contract and do your research. They'll say anything to get you into boot camp, "oh yeah user, just sign up for this culinary specialist job right now, you can switch out of it and go special forces no problem once you're in!"

"I think I'm a bit of a sociopath, ended my marriage. Getting paid to be hard as fuck and killing randos sounds appealing."

>sound like the right type

I do like stroking dicks...

Thanks for the solid advice, man. What I'm getting from all angles is that I should research into officer training or at least make sure I'm not signing my life away to cook potatoes with Dindu Nuffin.

I lived a few years in South America in Peace Corps after high school, I know it's not near the fucking same, but the feeling of living in the shit, eating in the shit, getting dengue a couple times and almost dying in the shit, I loved that. If I could do the same thing with a gun in my hand life would be peachy.

Why not fly off and join the French Foreign Legion? They'll definitely put you somewhere where you can catch dengue fever again.

>getting dengue a couple times and almost dying in the shit, I loved that.

6/10 trolling

It's awesome owning tons of rifles here. My entire family collection is easily over 6 figures.

i spoke to a ranger who interacted with them

he said they are gone, they are like machines, lights are on but no one is home

Just know its not all dropping into the evil empire from a plane and launching rockets at jihadist monsters with your best bros decked out in tacticool shit. You're going to go do a lot of morally questionable shit like kill women and children if they get in the way in some far reach of the world because you were ordered to and you have no say in the matter. The best soldiers are the ones that follow their orders unquestionably and follow their leaders without hesitation. Nobody wants to be a "follower" with no say, but thats exactly what you are in the military at any level, and that doesn't always sit well with everyone.

Rangers do more kinetic work than most Group guys. I said you're retarded because white side SF groups get into firefights for sure, but they also run medical clinics for shitty villages in bum fuck nowhere Afghanistan. They also teach retarded South American Soldiers how to fight. They're not just mindless drones who kill on demand and have no feelings kek.

Maybe some dudes get pretty shaken up from seeing some bad shit, but it's not as if they're all autonomous robots who can't exist without 20 confirmed kills every week or some other COD neckbeard fantasy.

My friend who was SF basically assisted police forces in Columbia. Said they found warehouses with bodies in barrels. Had to kill a lot of kids.

Your friend killed alot of kids? Did they attack the police?
