So I was talking to this guy, Dale Howard is his name.

He was on a landing craft on D-Day. He tells me this story and this is how it goes,

He was eating a sandwhich as the craft sped towards the French coast. Bullets whizzing by but all he could do was keep eating the sandwhich. He didn't even realize until the door had started to come down that he was sitting on a box of grenades! Lol! but he didn't seem to care, he picked up his Garand and moved up the beach.

comon faggots

All finns have a greatgrandparent that was in war.

Share your story then m8 this is what this thread is about.

My grandfather was. Norwegian volunterr that fought with the 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division Nordland.

He survived the battle of Berlin, and made it back home five years later.

He didn't talk about the war much, but when I asked him seriously he told me a lot.

How the Soviets raped and murdered not just Germans, but several other people's, how they were savages more akin to dogs than men.

He had great respect for hitler and the German people, he considered himself their brother.

I don't have any photos of him, but I do have photos of his division.

Any specific battles or stories?

they all say nazis were evil cause they were brainwashed by propaganda.

He never went into a lot of detail, mostly calling the Russians dogs.

But apparently he escaped the Red Army when they were rounding up soldiers by seeking refuge with a tailor and telling them he was his apprentice and had been the entire war.

Now I don't know how much of that is true, but I trust him.

Call him a coward all you want, but he had my grandmother back home, and he promised he would come back.

Not really many left unfortunately but my grandmother says that her father used to talk about fighting on the eastern front all the time but she doesn't remember any of what he said because she said they were kids and didn't really care for the war which to me is extremely tragic as our family will never know his story of serving from the start of the invasion till the end.

Actually i just remembered 2 things, one of my great grandfathers brothers was in a motorcycle recon unit and apparently he was one of the guys who got the closest to moscow before they were pushed back and another story i remember is my great grandfather was fighting in the caucases and was captured in yugoslavia and the pow camp they were in was attacked and they managed to escape back to german lines.

Met a guy who flew on the bombers over Berlin.
>no idea if the big piece of shit will just fall out of the sky
>MG's can't even touch Nazi fighters, have to pray that their escorts are solid
>flak
>flak
>flak every time, everywhere
>flak's literally air grenades- sharp ass metal everywhere
>entire plane is riddled in holes
>entire crew has been hit at least once before with shrapnel from flak
>bombs unreliable as fuck
>aiming for a factory, but taking out a school instead

Shit's fucked

They don't talk much about their experiences.

Everyone that went to war was a cuck, a bootlicking cuck serving their masters by spreading their boipuccies and then dying in the war. The only just war is a war against your own oppressors.

Was meant for

No, our war stories. Not for burgers.

My grandfather fought the japs in Australia. He doesn't like to talk about it, he lost a lot of friends in the war and had to deal with malaria for a while. All that so his grandson could be a fucking leaf.

That's respectable.

>call him a coward
I would soon call him brave for refusing to murder his fellow white men

I'm sorry brother.

Probably seems like a shitty thread to make but I had a good conversation with a German user in an unrelated thread about this so I thought it would be an interesting thread to make.

The WWII Generation was the greatest group of people that have ever lived in history. My Honor is my loyalty.

youtube.com/watch?v=9oofI0AKrJs

3 of my great grandparents were fighting, one of them was a farmer so he stayed home and took care of the food supply with captured russians as slave labor. Like most of the men who returned from the war they became alcoholics and didn't talk much about what happened. None of this American style of bragging, basically they said sometimes a mans gotta do what a mans gotta do

If you only had the mental capacity to understand how stupid you look glorifying Nazis while posting under an American flag.

I see. I asked my grandpa what his dad did in the war and he said "nothing." My great grandpa came over after ww1 so he wasn't quite American enough to fight against the Germans and not quite German enough to fight against the Americans.

Found the Communist.

Grandpa fought back Japs in PNG, lost his Sargent on the first day of deployment to a sniper, was shot in the foot and contracted a deadly disease with a 70% death rate but three days after the vaccine came out.

Never asked him though because you could see it on his face how much it had done to him. Nan was always telling me never to ask him about it

>German-Americans don't exist

Fuck you, we're the only one's who can't be proud of our heritage in this world.

t. Norman/Norwegian/Germanon

My grandfather and his brothers talked me about fighting the soviets when i was small. My grandfather enlisted as a volunteer to go winter war when he was just 17. Sadly i cant remember much of what they said, and now they are gone

That's your grandpa? Damn how old are you then 50?

Oldfag here, dad was in WWII. Talked about it some but not much. Found out later from others what he went through. Had a metal plate in head and none of his original teeth thanks to a Kamikaze that hit on the deck above him as he was preparing to open the hatch trying to get to his battle station.

USS Ticonderoga CV-14

lol mate I'm 19, he was born in 1923. Mum and dad had me fairly late

My grandfather died from lung cancer before I was born but my mother told me the only story he would ever tell of the war.
>be grandfather
>medic in American army in Italy in 1944
>convoy driving through narrow street in town
>Italians along the street watching the trucks go by
>little boy the was watching dropped a ball or toy of some kind into the road
>runs out in front of convoy
>officer there says to keep driving over the kid
>boy is kill

That's the only story my grandfather ever told about the war, according to my mom. Whenever he was asked he would always say that war brings out the worst in people. I know my grandfather on my dad's side also fought but I don't know any anything about him. He also died before I was born, but neither my dad nor his mother ever talked about him. Whenever I think of him though I always get sad because my dad is 100% Italian and to think that his father traveled back to where his parents emigrated from to kill his brothers and sisters is just depressing.

That is very sad. I'm sorry user. You should've done a better job of collecting their stories.

Same here, 19, mom and dad had me rather late.

Pretty much my grandfather's entire generation served in one way or another.

My dad's father ended up in the Pacific theater in supply and logistics
>0 kills

Now his wife's family is different:
Uncle Leonard stormed Normandy beach in the first wave and made it all the way home
>bronze star w/cluster
>silver star
>many many killstudents
>never so much as a hang nail or whatever from combat

Her sisters husband, my uncle Steve was a gunner in a B-17 that made it through 16 missions before getting shot down and making his way back to England after we invaded the continent. Flew 17 more missions before the war was over.
>purple heart
>other shit
>unknown number of kills

They all hated jews with a passion. Pic semi-related

The fuck? I'm 23 and my Grandpa was born in 53...

I'm pretty drunk right now though so fuck you for making me do math

yeh feels man, they're gonna be fairly old by the time I'm an adult

>because anyone who isn't a traitor to the American flag is a Communist

I found the moron.

Nazi Germany has nothing to do with German-Americans. Remember, those German-Americans left Germany for a good reason, and that was well before World War 1. You retards have no connection to Nazi Germany, similar to how Black Americans have no history to Africa anymore. There's a reason German-Americans simply go by the label "white" now. You're bastardized, just like the blacks, same bastardization of whites. You just look like cucks doing that.

GERMANS!

Report ITT. I made this thread because I was talking to one of you about your grandpa

I fear my kids will never know their grandparents.

Feels bad man.

no fuck off ctr

Moron

>join army
>get deployed
>kill a few sand niggers
>get back
>wow that was nothing
pls tell me more about your pstd

>They all hated the Jews with a passion
>Fought the Jew's war

Ahhh shid...

Well, in my defense, a 6-year old doesent have the greatest of mental capacitues for such things. And this during the late -90s, so its been a while since. I do recall one thing tho.
>be twentysomething granddad in a trench
>weird noice from the russian side
>a voice yells(in terrible finnish) "we would come over there and kill you, but we have to go to south to kill those german dogs"

>you're mongrel and have no history goy- I mean friend just like you

Go away filthy jew

actually ww2 vets fucked everything up
of course they were brave, but naive
and their stupidity kind off resulted in the society we have today
sadly the wrong guys won

I don't give a shit about that I was just asking about ww2 vets and your experience with them. Fucking kraut

Happened after the war. The jew really started to rear it's ugly head after 1945.

Once a German, always a German.

Grandfather served, so you're wrong.

Blut und Boden!

Triple repeating numerals and i post grandpa's WW2 journal.

A marine talked to me at mcdonalds, it's been awhile so i don't remember where he fought at, but that marine helped give me the motivation I needed for boot camp. Semper Fidelis.

My grandfather from father's branch was one of the judges(Special Council, NKVD) at prescribed to armies military courts(Special Council of the USSR NKVD) through all war and sentenced people to shooting for war crimes - soviets and germans alike. Didn't liked to talk about it at all.
After the war he worked as a bulldozer building pipelines in North. When he got on the pension with no work he started to drink heavilly and died from it.
Other family members either died at war,so i can't tell anything about them, or worked in the rear.
When I was at school they brought some veterans to share their memories with pupils every year - mostly tankmen and infantry scouts - they all dead now or immobile. Most talked about their comrades death's, how many friends they lost and how they'll group up to take out german panthers or night raids to take a tongue. No hate towards germans though, which, as i look back, is surprising.

Just do it you complete faggot. Best thing you'll do all week

It's completely not their fault you fucking idiot, never blame the soldiers, blame the government

Just remembered one more, when i really fired up those neurons:
>grandfather is freezing, the weather is -40C
>reduced to eating the leather from their boots, no food supplies can make it through the heavy snowing
>again soviets start yelling and making noice "come over here, brave man of Finland. We havr some bread, and we will share with you, like comrades"
>later on during the war, my grandpa stumbles on a abandoned russian camp
>half eaten human remains, with finnish military insingnia fallen to the floor

Cant even imagine how my grandpa must have felt

>Byron McGhelleny

So I talked to this guy for a while and this is how his story goes

>Marine on okinawa
>was like the 3rd deployment onto the island
>kills like 10 japs
>gets shot in the stomach
>gets taken back to the ship
>goes home
>his war is over

Still though he had to have been shittin bricks riding to okinawa on that landing craft

>What is your experience with ww2 veterans Sup Forums?
they're all dead mate

im about to go to sleep tho

I bear no ill will torwards you, but we can't forget and we won't forgive.

Thank you for your input Vlad.

Great grandfather run away from home at the age of 17. Was recruited and fought in verdun and the battle of the somme.after ww1 he opened a store, come ww2 he was recruites again and fought on the west front. My family thought he died but he returned at the end of the war. He never really spoke to his family about what happened but woke up every night screaming/crying.

:(

>SS Volunteer
>calling the Russians dogs.
shame have such grandfather, a coward, executioner and scoundrel.

That wasn't a good story at all :DD

RIP

>Your entire army gangraped and crucified my people

McFucking kill yourself, friendo.

I think all the ones I knew are dead now tbqh.

Though a friend and I interviewed a 'Vietnam vet' who claimed to kill numerous charlies using piano wire and his barehands behind enemy lines. We recorded it for the keks because it was obvious bullshit (we told him it was for a school project). We knew the guy because he lived in the neighborhood and rented copied VHS tapes (he had thousands).

He's also dead now come to think of it. I should also mention his girlfriend was slightly retarded (seriously). We gave her one of those fake lottery tickets the one day for like $1,000,000 and she was going crazy jumping up and down and shit. Don't let anyone tell you picking on the disabled is wrong, makes them seem weak and that is discrimination.

Another story.

Robert Merill

>served in the battle of the bulge
>shot a buncha Germans
>got shot in the stomach
>went to hospital
>met his nurse-wife Frieda there
>got a Bronze star, purple heart and 3 other medals

I went to his funeral and his punk ass shit head kids didn't even show up.

>my people
HAHAHA
Oh wow, did an American call somebody from Europe "my people" ?

Axis is here.
My grandfather was fighting the Soviet army in China, but he passed away without saying anything.
Perhaps I think he was involved in something war crime.

don't start this pls. This is a thread to remember our fallen heroes. Italy pls

Shutup Ivan, your people were the worst in WW2

>crucified my people
ok, you're a troll

My grandfather. Cucked up the Nazis. Total dick.

Know anyone else? Any other stories jap bruh?

Grandad wanted to sign up for the war. His uncle, who was awarded a Legion of Honor (French equivalent of Victoria Cross or Medal of Honor) in the First World War, sat him down and told him what he'd been through. After that Grandad didn't enlist.
Apparently my grandfather was the only one who'd ever been told what my great-great uncle did in WWI, he never talked about it or even acknowledged it to anyone, and my Grandad didn't tell anyone else.

Holy fuck

One grandpa was running a farm when the US entered the war, so he stayed home. The other knew that he'd almost certainly get drafted, so he and some friends decided to enlist and at least get some choice in what they did. Signed up for the air force, but some administrative snag had them shipped off to infantry instead. He fought through much of Europe and lost a lot of his unit, including his best friend (who my dad is named after).

Since he spoke German (from Wisconsin and grew up among descendants of the immigration wave), he got called whenever his unit had to talk to Germans. One incident involved him walking into a German camp to tell them that they were surrounded, so it would be nice if they surrendered peacefully. He didn't talk much about the overall experience beyond it being unpleasant.

He stayed for some of the postwar occupation, then returned to the US, married my grandma, and had a dozen kids. Most of his work career was in the local post office, and he lived a long and apparently happy life. Despite his war experiences, he was almost always easygoing and positive.

>A fucking wop

Grandfather brought his family, which was Norwegian and German to America in the 50's, his daughter met my father who is a descendant of Norman nobility.

I have my DNA info right fucking here m80.

100% European
94.6% Nothern European
49.8% German/Norman
18.9% Scandinavian
2.8% British
4.9% Finnish

Don't fuck with a Nord's heritage.

>No hate towards germans

I can confirm that. Vet from my family (died long time ago) beared no hatred towards germans or soviets and never was eager to talk about war. Generally used to share funny stories, which were not directly connected with war itself. Served in reconaissance. He loved both USSR and Russia very much.

>italy

fucking illiterate retard. go back to you cuckptain america comics.

>Oldfag
>Father fought in the Pacific with the Second Marine Division.
>Silver star at Guadacanal.
.Purple Heart and battlefield commission at Tarawa.
>Never talked about it. Ever.
>Warned by my mother to never bring it up.
>Probable PTSD like my brother, who fought with the Marines in Vietnam.

Cool story man.

Your DNA is irrelevant
When they crossed the pond your ancestors decided to completely abandon their homeland, not just their nation, their homeland.
Europeans aren't your people
Americans are

Grandfather was an American who grew up in Slovakia and later helped the partisans. His village was one of the last strongholds of the uprising and one of the few not torched. He only told his wife about what he saw.

IINTERESTING

my great-grandfather

My grandfather leapt from a train to Katyn and survived on dumb luck (the guards shot the other guy)

He then made his way to Britain where he joined up as a paratrooper and a demolitionist

He hated nazis with every fiber of his being and would have personally beaten every one of you to death

Cool story man.

Blood is blood, you piece of shit.

I would gladly die for Germany as it once was, I would gladly die for Norway, for Sweden, and Finland.

I would not die for America.

My grandpa was a gunner in a B-17 bomber for the US army in Nazi Germany.
Really great guy, super nice and friendly.
91 now and no sign of being unhealthy, voted Trump.

I don't really agree with the allied side of the war, but I'm still proud of him for what he did. It's not like he could have known any better. The propaganda back then went uncontested without the internet.

how tf did percentages even get brought into this?

Italian pls give me your expereinces with ww2 vets and forget that other bullshit.

>I'm so much of a cuck I will die for any country other then my home country

>Be me, 6 years ago
>20 year old little shit
>Grandfather dies after battling multiple triple bypasses, bladder cancer, etc
>Funeral is sad as fuck
>At the wake a very old white gentleman, quiet, sits at the very back
>He is wearing a WW2 veterans hat
>Eulogy / viewing is complete
>Old gentleman is signing the quest book because he had forgotten
>Myself and my cousin ask him who he is
>Tells us his name (which I forget honestly) and how he tries to make it to any veterans funeral that he can
>He goes onto say he would do the same for his friends
>All his friends are dead
>So that's why he tries to attend any veteran's funeral in his area
>rightinthefeels.jpg

this guy had to be in his 90s

respekt
