Are people really not seeing the writting on the wall? offensive in eastern holms, offensive on palmyra, trooptransports to deir ezzor, agreement with sdf over a shared offensive... They are preparing the relief of deir ezzor. Thats what the 5th is build for.
Ryder Clark
After changing hands several times I can imagine the city and gas plants aren't in any better order than the ruins
Ayden Lopez
Not sure that if restoring natural resources sites will be a top priority but unlike ruins restoring them is possible.

Their whole offensive in the south was bhild on the premise, that the saa rushes for tadef, which they obviously will not do as the only strategic value tadef has is, that you can stage an attack on al bab from there.
absolutely not, the 5th corp wasn't made for that. SAA needed a new armoured and trained division, russia provided it.
all the previous offensives towards deyrezor were led by elite SAA divisions and all failed.
It's too early to await a new SAA offensive towards the eastern provinces, also SDF is already very busy around Rakka

What is with the status qou fetishism in modern times. Any change of borders or new nation states is akin to a war crime.
And yet, all states that currently exist were founded by this exact method.

This is just twitter, not an official demand. He's hitting back on the liberal media, that obama was to soft because he didn't prevent crimea falling into russias hands. I think he's trying to normalize his approach to russia, not to copy obongos.

But it won't be pretty.
But it will be good.

>Three Russian, Syrian helicopters land at Brigade 137 Base in Deir Ezzor
BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:15 P.M.) – Three Russian and Syrian helicopters landed at the Brigade 137 Base on Tuesday, marking the first time in several days that any aircraft has safely arrived at this military installation.
According to a military source in Deir Ezzor, the three helicopters landed during the afternoon hours on Tuesday, delivering d necessary supplies to the soldiers at the front-lines.
Previously, due to security concerns, the Syrian Arab Army’s High Command had prohibited military aircraft from attempting to land at either the 137th Brigade Base and Deir Ezzor Airport.

>East Aleppo battle heats up as Syrian government forces close on ISIS stronghold
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:45 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) methodical advance towards the Islamic State’s east Aleppo stronghold of Deir Hafer has paid off recently, forcing the terrorist group to abandon several positions across the province in order to fortify the city.
In a matter of 72 hours, the Syrian Arab Army has liberated 6 villages northeast of the Kuweires Military Airport from the Islamic State forces, putting them in position to strike Deir Hafer from two different axes.
With the Deir Hafer-Al-Bab Road cutoff to the terrorist forces in Al-Bab City, the Syrian Arab Army is able to impose their will on the remaining villages located between these two Islamic State strongholds in east Aleppo.
>Jaysh Al-Islam claims 67 Syrian Army soldiers killed in East Ghouta
BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:25 P.M.) – Jaysh AL-Islam (Army of Islam) claimed on Wednesday that their forces killed 67 soldiers from the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in one week inside the East Ghouta region of rural Damascus.
Using an info-graph, Jaysh Al-Islam claimed 67 soldiers were killed and 11 tanks were destroyed during their military operations.
Among the 67 soldiers killed, Jaysh Al-Islam alleged 5 high-ranking officers were killed in the East Ghouta.
Despite these claims by Jaysh Al-Islam, the Syrian Arab Army has not suffered 67 casualties this month in the East Ghouta, let alone the loss of 11 tanks and 2 BMPs.
Jaysh Al-Islam often makes these claims without any proof to corroborate their own numbers .

>Houthi forces claim Saudi warplane shot down over northern Yemen
BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:00 P.M.) – The Houthi forces claim their fighters shot down a Saudi warplane over the northern Yemen province of Marib tonight.
According to local activists, the Houthi forces shot down the plane with a guided missile as it was flying over the town of Al-Manin, which is located south of Marib’s provincial capital.
While this news remains unconfirmed, images have been posted by local activists that show a massive explosion over southern Marib tonight.
IF this report proves true, tonight’s attacks marks the first time a Saudi warplane has been shot down by the Houthi forces this year.
>Houthi forces ambushes multiple Saudi Coalition convoys in west Yemen
BEIRUT, LEBANON (11:30 A.M.) – Houthi forces, alongside Saleh loyalists, ambushed three Saudi Coalition convoys in the Ta’iz Governorate on Monday and Tuesday, killing at least 15 fighters from the Saudi-backed Southern Resistance units.
The first ambush was carried out by the Houthi forces on Monday in the Al-Jadid area near the Mocha Port; this attack resulted in the death of at least 5 coalition fighters.
Two other surprise attacks were carried out in Dhubab District of Ta’iz, forcing the Saudi Coalition to halt the transfer of supplies to their frontline positions against the Houthi forces.
Since the Saudi-backed Coalition forces seized the Mocha Port last week, the Houthi fighters have increased the number of hit-and-run attacks against the enemy combatants inthe Ta’iz Governorate.

the russian counter claim is that HRW has failed to investigate or do anything about the attack which occurred in January last year. For this attack they were made aware of witnesses, and were provided soils samples etc.
HRW is still banging on about something which happened further back in time.
If you take the line that NGO's are basically the thin end of the western policy wedge attempting to pry open a gap for more concrete action then it can be seen as shilling.
The russian statement from about 20 hours ago, can be found here:
I would not say the HRW is entirely a policy device of the west/nato/whatever, however it does have interests which may align with the western interests from time to time.
Since russia has made life difficult for foreign funded NGO's to operate in Russia, their interests and those of the russians are less often aligned.
