I stopped caring about church or religion when I was a teen. I'm a Catholic turned edgy atheist turned confused agnostic. Degeneracy is making me miserable and I want to return to the teachings of Christ.
But what denomination do I choose? Does it even matter? I don't even know if I can truly believe in the existence of a God, but I want to try. At the very least the community and teachings on morality should help me become a better person... right?

Serious answer, go back to Catholicism. Find a conservative Catholic you trust to get recommendations for a parish in your area that doesn't have shit sermons with social justice crap replacing the actual religion.
Then start going to mass again. If you feel like you're just going through the motions, keep at it. It doesn't have to magically click all at once and you don't have to be perfect. Life-long Catholics still find things to confess. If you want to get better at something, do it more. Same with with faith, love, etc. Commit to concrete acts of participating in the Church.
Remember, religion doesn't make you a better person. that takes effort. Accept that you're a sinner. Religion will help you be a better sinner and that's where you start.
