today i started my sociology class. its a late starting class and i just needed a social science for my degree. so why not the study of society?
i wish the following was some sort of sick Sup Forums satire but unfortunately the following actually happened
first thing my teacher introduces is how welfare is a good thing for everyone. she asked the class if there was someone who just got laid off a job and they went on welfare vs someone who just got laid off a job and didnt who would come out more successful. i jumped on the chance and explained that the person who would be more successful wouldnt be determined if they went on welfare or not but rather their determination to make the best out of their situations. she couldnt argue it but continued trying to tell the class that the person on welfare would come out better
next thing. FEMINISM. "WOMAN MAKE 76% OF WHAT MEN DO". i was wide eyed at this point. this isnt a meme, she was actually preaching this. we examined barbies from the 50s and she noted that none of them were white. i was googling the demographic of the 50s and i wanted to tell the class that less than 5% of the population back then was black, but i didnt want to be "that guy". i also wanted to tell her that men go through just as much idealism as women, being we need to be /fit/ and smart and leaders and all around attractive to be "ideal" but i held my tongue
next thing. WHITE GUILT. WHITE. FUCKING. GUILT. white people oppress minorities and make it hard for them to achieve! i looked around the class. mostly white people, one asian, and one straight african woman. not a black woman, african. with the african sounding accent and everything. and boy was she loving this
after that. CAPITALISM IS EVIL AND TAKES ADVANTAGE OF PEOPLE. she called herself, in front of everyone, a socialist. we talked about karl marx and how the rich people are taking advantage of, what i dont think she noticed she said, stupid people
