Globalism being shit and the worst option by far for humanity doesn't mean Nationalism isn't shit as well.

It brings people together to work towards a common goal. Whether that goal is good or bad depends on your perspective. But objectively it is the most efficient and succesful way to do it.

Nationalism is the reason borders and nearly ever nation exist (some created by others, ex Liberia). Nationalism allowed their societies to be more powerful than non nationalist societies. Just look at a globe to see the success

We tried that in 1861 and got our asses handed to us by the other peoples.

Ostensibly it allowed the US to win the cold war, by using our economic strength to pull other countries into our economic block where we could exert influence over them.

It let the 90's and 2000's be an orgy of spending on cheap Chinese shit.

It drops our costs of consumer goods.

It let American companies dump all their workers and begin mfg in the 3rd world, letting them raise their profitability in the short and medium term.

It has brought a whole bunch (~1B?) of poor people out of absolute poverty into a kind of desperate lower class industrial existence.

But yeah, it's pretty fatally flawed and is collapsing due to its effects on liberal democracies that can reject it.
