The house of Lords are going to get fucked if they try and do anything, May will be given the authority to do what she wants but the problem is that this is a woman who has been quite happy to let in hundreds of thousands of immigrants despite having the control to not let them in, and she also campaigned for remain. If you expect her to suddenly change her mind on mass migration and eu integration then you will be sadly mistaken, if nothing changes then in five years time we will still have our citizens able to be dragged before a foreign court because of the european arrest warrant and we will still have immigration in the hundreds of thousands. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Lords amendments need to go through commons anyway, kind of makes them a bit pointless, they should just allow expert advisors in commons as in tribunals.
the spiked guy on daily politics today wasn't very good and let owen jones off the hook with hate crime statistics
the left/liberals/sjws have a systemic problem with believing in bogus statistics when it fits their narrative and it's not just with racist attacks, there's been many high profile rape cases in the past few years where the left unquestioningly accepted the woman's account which was later discredited, likewise there were many fake hate crime incidents reported after trump was elected
where do people get the idea to falsely report this stuff? maybe it's the hysteria whipped up by people who unquestioningly accept any minority testimony regardless of evidence?
Isaiah Thomas
You see, here's my argument I have agaisnt typical UKIP/BREXIT/Nationalist people.
Wage compression has been shown to have very little to do with migration and the only sectors that have some evidence to show a minor amount of compression is care work, waiting staff and cleaning.
>UKIP/BREXIT: muh hospital waiting times Hospital waiting times are being driven up by our own ageing population. Migrants are typically younger people who require far less medical attention than older people. Especially EU migration where most are people looking to work. theconversation.com/the-truth-about-migrants-and-the-nhs-60908
>UKIP/BREXIT: le EU is an authoritarian undemocratic piece of shit
An authoritarian government? Have you seen the UK government? They wish to ban porn, track all of your online activity by your ISP and our current PM has reportedly been using her faith as a reason to not back drug reform. The EU has attempted numerous times to protect UK industry, Chinese steel being a recent example - that our government veto'd.
>..labour and toies fucked us up, vote UKEEEEEEP You claim Labour and Conservatives have failed us, yet you are pushing us down a route that will lead to continual Conservative governance because UKIP cannot put up a worth while fight against the mainstream parties.
Michael Gonzalez
I get the concept, but it seems high cost, who will pay for the saftey of the higher rails?

Jaxon Parker
Would there not still be competitive pressure based on platform (after all it's much easier to not have to climb stairs, unless you're at a high city, in which case the lower platform is disadvantaged.)
Ignoring the obvious issue that the upkeep on two tracks won't be recouped in the competitive costs of one (unless you charge all operators for the upkeep of their segment, but even then the lower segment could leave the supporting structure unmaintained knowing that their competitor's track will go out with them
Nathan Gomez
>Lords amendments need to go through commons anyway, kind of makes them a bit pointless, they should just allow expert advisors in commons as in tribunals. Good point, at the moment it is just a race to see who can get the most peers in which leads to the current overcrowding problem that exists, the Lords could go tomorrow and there would be no problem in my opinion, it is just unnecessary bureaucracy.
Colton Garcia
Your guys idea of making life better for British citizens is warped, putting us under continual tory governance, increasing taxes and isolating us from our biggest trade partner and using immigration as a reason for this - when in actual fact immigration is going to need to increase to see us out of this mess, not decrease. With us leaving the single-market and the EEA that means our tax income from London will decrease since the financial services there will move in order to be able to trade their services within the market. Keep in mind that London accounts for almost 1/3 of the UK tax income and a majority of that tax comes from financial services.
You have voted to make us worse off under the false pretence of taking back "sovereignty" which we have always had. Painting the EU as some dictatorship when the major players within the EU were us and Germany!
It is a joke to conclude that UKIP is anything but a party of people who don't know a better way to express their anger, if that offends your sensibilities then I am sorry but sometimes the truth hurts.

I agree with the princple that we need a house not bound to popular vote, but it needs to be merit based and it needs to have authority, but its a really weird balance between democracy here.
As I said in the last thread, I don't think it is possible to have a sustainable government larger than tribal government, the more people involved, the greyer the utilitatianism, the more people negativley effected.

migrants help increase GDP
Luis Roberts
Migration is used as a means of keeping unemployment at a set level to disempower the workforce, making their labour less valuable, it give the employer power to use things like zero day contracts because then they can just say "go on, quit, I don't care, I'll just hire someone else". It is a tool of (((business elites))) and so it is staggering that so much of the left in this country seems to be in favour of it. If the supply of something exceeds it's demand, the supply is devalued, and if the demand of something exceeds it's supply, then the supply's value is increased, this is a basic economic principle.
Furthermore, most pro immigration arguments never seem to account for it but even if we were able to keep up building infrastructure and housing with the demand that it creates, it would mean destroying much of our precious countryside.
Jaxson Jones

I'm convinced that most of the bleeding heart immigration lovers don't want immigration for the right reasons.
They don't care it costs the government money. They don't care it competes with British culture. They don't care about the issues of housing and the workforce.
They just want to feel good about letting in "youths" and foreigners. That's It. It's not even a philosophical thing for most of them.
Nolan Cooper

>Better-known for low-paid jobs than generous incentive packages, McDonald’s Corp. is facing a labor shortage so dire in Hungary that it’s offering free rooms to out-of-town burger flippers.
Aren't labour shortages awesome? Labour shortages basically mean everyone has a job, and the job has good security and you'll get pay rises because they can't easily replace you. Of course a "labour shortage" is only bad for CEOs who don't care if everyone is already employed and happy and seeing their wages rise, because a CEO always wants more, cheaper employees.
Oh, and a labour shortage might even get you free accommodation as in the above example.
Isn't is great when the population at large sees wage rises and not just the CEOs?
David Rodriguez

>>brit/pol/ still fails to face the fact that migrants are actually a benefit to us, and do not cause wage compression.
Supply and Demand is literally the most basic economic fact imaginable. Only a fool would try to argue that increasing the work force somehow leads to higher wages.
>>brit/pol/ still fails to face the fact that this current UK government is way WORSE than what we were under brussels.
This heavily implies that a government that is no longer bound by EU legislation won't be under an increased level of scrutiny as there's now no higher power to pass the buck to.
>>brit/pol/ still fails to face the fact that UKEEEEEP are the not party for the british people as a whole, and that BREXIT is going to drive us down into a 2nd world shithole in the back alley of an isolated part of Europe.
