Maybe he didn't realize it, but the majority of his fan base was right-leaning trolls. He dedicated an entire episode of his podcast to call Trump an unhinged maniac and outright bigot. That pissed a lot of people off. But then he went on to frame his co-host as a rape apologist and got him fired from his off-air career. Then he publicly disavowed his book when people brought up the fact that it had rape jokes and that he was responsible for promoting "get raped" as a catch phrase for the podcast. I just can't wrap my mind around why he threw it all away just to spite his co host. The biggest problem podcast was perfect.

Shit is coming apart at the seams all over at home and abroad and a lot of people still think it's 2003 and they need to be out on the streets protesting Iraq. Do they not realise that the young people today, being fucked over by the recession, weren't even teenagers back then? That the people who were have put up with over a decade of grinding debt, an atrocious job market, and all the while a Media and Government machine telling them all was well and it was their fault for not working hard enough, or for being the wrong identity or sex or religion?

The most insane thing about Hillary as a candidate was her naked appeal to a "90's" kind of nostalgia. Like, it was 1997 and everything was swell and on the up. What a slap on the face that was to people who rode that train already and got dumped in a skip. She appealed to an age already gone, and age and model people had seen decline and fail. Trump for all his bluster recognised the fall, and wanted to move forward. But if you're Maddox and you don't see, or turn away from the problems, you'll never understand why Trump got elected, or why you're not "with it" anymore, or why everyone is so mad all of a sudden. You're still on a trail you set out on way back when, not noticing that slow earthquakes have shifted the ground under your feet.
