Reading Andrew Anglin's "A Normie's Guide to the Alt Right" for the first time.
When discussing meme mascots, he mentions Bane as a secondary mascot for the Alt Right, after Pepe. He writes:
>the villain Bane in many ways embodying the Jewish nightmare of fascism. The Alt-Right has adopted this character as a secondary mascot because of his character as a strongman, taking down an oppressive liberal-democratic system and attempting to establish an authoritarian-populist social order.
I don't think I saw Bane the same way. It seems more likely that Bane was a villainisation of just revolutionary anarchists in general, some of his agendas mirroring the Occupy Wall Street movement in many ways. You could definitely see Bane as a radical left-wing villain and Batman as the conservative authoritarian reactionary.
I know it doesn't matter because ultimately it's a Sup Forums meme that managed to tap into meme magic, but let's ask ourselves- what is Bane? A Big Antifa Guy or a Right Wing Death Squad Leader For You?
Alexander Hernandez
To me bane is neither left-wing nor right-wing, he's simply the man of the people, honestly the fact that Andrew Anglin sees him as such is just moe proof to me that genuine stormfags can't meme.
Aiden Jones
Does it really matter? I think he's a bit like Pepe, he's both a caricature of Hitler and Lenin. His populism could be steered either way.
But seeing as being ''conservative'' would now mean being a neoliberal globalist to maintain the status quo, is Batman really reactionary?

>attempting to establish an authoritarian-populist social order
but thats not at all what bane did bane literally implemented complete anarchy and destroyed any semblance of social order
Zachary Evans

Justin James
>To me bane is neither left-wing nor right-wing, he's simply the man of the people
Pretty much.
Jackson Martinez
I think he looks fuckin retarded.. just because he's bald I think is why he has been adopted. Bane, is disorganized, and to be honest, fuck batman altogether. Superman is the new mascot.
for fucks sake
Cameron Price
The fuck was that guy on the right planning on loading those ack ack-worthy rounds on his vest into?
Evan Wright
Anything that scares Jews is OK in my book.
Christopher Hall
I think Anglin was just shitposting
Jordan Sanchez
bane is not a villain. in the context of the movie and when the movie came out, he's definitely not
he's a mirroring of batman who, instead of saving gotham from its villainy, wants to destroy the constructs that prevent him from realizing his maximum potential
bane is an icon for either the far left or far right. it makes no difference. we both envision ourselves in the same role, albeit with different victims
Jose Campbell
The main reason he's been adopted is because there's a massive overlap between Sup Forums and Sup Forums posters
Mason Brooks
Meanwhile Batman is a multimillionaire who dresses up in a costume in his spare time and beats the shit out of the poor and the mentally ill. Who's the real bad guy?
Ryder Miller
>It seems more likely that Bane was a villainisation of just revolutionary anarchists in general, Specifically the socialist""""""anarchist""""""" left user.
Andrew Baker
bane is the ideal for the bottom left radicals
not the pussified genderbenders but the 20century anarchists
he even managed to secure his commune from outside military invasion - something where even Mahno failed
Easton Perry
I don't think any of you, or Andrew Algin for that matter actually understood Bane's role in movie.
His whole populist movement and takeover was a sham. Bane deliberately exploited his own men and populist rhetoric to create an unsustainable outburst of violence that would end in the destruction of Gotham. But that wasn't even his plan. It was Miranda/Talia's, in which Bane was merely the willing actor who carried it out. Her reasoning in the film was slightly unclear; it was possibly all just for revenge against Batman for killing her father.
Jaxson Reed
Pffff for you.
Sebastian Garcia
Batman is the fascist.
Levi Ross
>knowing this much about a DC propaganda magazine
Leave your basememt today!

Is Baneposting in honour of Bane or CIA?
Henry Turner
>not the pussified genderbenders but the 20century anarchists >"""""Anarchist""""" Bane in typical leftist fashion was fully willing to murder any and all who went against his vision using a military force.
He's no different than Lenin as are all "anarchist" leftist movements who have always done at some scale purges and the forceful violent removal of "dissenters" which typically just means people who don't give up their private property
Christian Johnson
The conversation is about the meme, not the plot of batman you cunt.
Something I wish people would stop talking about since the place is infested with fucking shills and retards.
>Lose lips sink ships
Easton Perry
baneposting is ridiculing a single dumb scene from Nolans movie combined with spamminig shit just for the sake of it. Looking for political message in it is just silly.
Anthony Howard
This. Batman is a one-man Right-Wing Safety Squad desu
Isaiah Rodriguez
>he's simply the man of the people and anything beyond this is just projection
Gavin Hill
I actually really fucking hope you're shilling your book. because otherwise this is horrible tier b8.
Isaiah Peterson
Bane represents Chaos, CIA represents Order. The one who Crashes and the one who's in Charge here.
There is equilibrium.
Kayden Martin
>batman is a billionare industrialist >league of shadows, joker and bane want to, one way or the other, free the people of Gotham from the oppression of the city's elite >batman works tirelessly to ensure the people remain slaves to Babylon, err Gotham
just look at that gigantic NSA spying machine Batman cooked up to find the Joker at the end of TDK.
Julian Davis
retard you need to know the plot to understand the character properly
knowing the character lets you assess the meme as OP asks of us
Blake Jones
It's not about what Bane is in the movie, but how he is seen by the audience, specifically baneposters. Within the the context of the memes, Bane is an unstoppable juggernaut who gleefully tramples lesser beings such as Bill Wilson (CIA). The relationship between the two is somewhat like that of Pepe and Wojak, and to that end, destructive forces of change are usually associated with Bane.
Zachary Hughes
Bane is the evil white man. That's Anglin's point. Btw anglin totally trolled faggiepie out of money. That swedish freak nearly lost his YouTube channel. The media really thinks that fag is a Nazi.
Lincoln White
You're the one not understanding here. Sup Forums's Bane is a completely different character from the one in the movie.
Alexander Roberts
nah, you dont get it
Lenin would build a strong power structure
Bane let people free of his power, he only secured the bomb
Camden Cooper
Maskkkkkkt man guy uses a 50 bmg to cover their escape when gordon follows them into the sewers. Those 50 bmgs on his vest are used to top off his mag when hes on the fire escape.
Brody Fisher
he opened the jails, thats like a shitlib dream
Connor Martinez
>Bill Wilson (CIA) CIA guy has a name ? wew
Asher Bell
you cant just be wrong and stupid and then call it shitposting and be forgiven
Bentley Phillips
But Anglin is not talking about Sup Forums's version of Bane.
Unless your suggesting Sup Forums is actually the strongman vanguard of a populist social order taking down liberal democracy.
Maybe they fit that in between filming for Brazzers.
Ian Morgan
'Twas merely a ruse my good man
Cameron Robinson
Bane is hispanic. Anglin is a racist for insulting him
Jordan Campbell
from my point of view, batman is evil!!
Carson Ortiz
TELL ME ABOUT ANGLIN WHY DOES HE REFERENCE INTERNET MEMES IN A BOOK
Thomas Clark
Bane, if anything, represents the likes of Soros. Using his vast resources to whip Western society/Gotham into a revolutionary frenzy in order to hasten and distract from its ultimate demise by progress/a big nuclear bomb
Christian Martin
Bane was not a man of the people
All of his populist rhetoric was a way to grab power and to pull the wool over everyone eyes before he nuked their dumb asses
Owen Russell
Nonsense. As so eloquently points out, it's Bruce Wayne who uses his money and power to steer events. Bane is a hero of the people.
Isaac Gomez
So according to this thread and Anglin, Bane is:
>authoritarian >anarchist >fascist >communist >populist >con artist/sham >man of the people >globalist >anti-status quo >terrorist >strongman >acting figurehead >meme
Is he /ourguy/ then?
Samuel Howard
NOOOOOOOBODY fucking cares, Cassandra. Literally no one is fucking using Bane as a "meme mascot" or whatever autistic shit you're trying to say. Stop trying to make Bane as an alt right meme habben; it's not going to habben, faggot.
Colton Cox
>baneposting is 101 shitposting culture >Sup Forums shitposting leaks everywhere.
No more than that, anything else is fiction 4U
John Clark
Bane isn't a hero of the people when he expects everyone to die. He dies to remove the cancer that is Gotham
Hudson Lopez
Yes, and he's also a pretty big guy.

Bane was just peddling the people a line to keep them amused and keep his enemies off his back while he plotted their deaths. Bane isn't about freeing anyone, he just tells people he is so they won't realise he's going to blow them up.
Nathan Robinson
Perhaps, but what about Batman? He uses his money and power to maintain the status quo. Besides, if chaos is Bane's motivation, wouldn't that make him an avatar of Kek?
Kayden Gonzalez
The status quo in Gotham is criminality. Batman is enforcing his will on his environment. He doesn't serve any agenda except to fight crime.
