How do we solve the financial illiteracy epidemic?

Cool blog post

>be 27
>have only 12k saved up

By age 40 most people should have AT LEAST 1 million in assets

shouldn't tell people how much you got. lie to fit in.

ha

>be 24
>have 700k saved because parents weren't fucking idiots
feels good man

a-are you me

I only tell because they ask

These people are making 60k right out of university and 80k after a few years they should be borderline rich by now

check'd

god goy! lie! yes this is the true way we should live our lives through endless lies!

>>You when the Fiat currency collapses

so you save your meager earnings never have fun, because you're too worried about your shekels?

you sound like a jew

>How do we solve the financial illiteracy epidemic?
We don't. The economy as it exists now would collapse if everyone were fiscally responsible.

The trick is to stay single and never go out with friends. Focus on getting a good career while being NEET. Let the money flow in.

I own 200 ounces of silver, it's not enough though

I should have 1000 ounces of silver, 100 gold

10+ firearms and at least 10,000 rounds of ammo

A storage locker full of grains and water

Incorrect, people in China and Germany are prudent savers and they're very successful, China is possibly even the next superpower

Wrong, I have fun, but going to a club and paying $12 for a watered down drink is not, you can travel across the world for months with like $5000 if you know what you're doing

almost 26
NEET, never worked, never had bank account, never earned even a single dollar, never owned a cell phone, live with mommy
4-yr degree in biology (took 5.5 years to get)
currently writing a book
gonna become thrice as rich as JK Rowling

Those are like 70 k Euro.
I'm 25 and I'm around 40 k and I think I'm doing good considering the country's economical and general crisis and the fact that 40% of youth aged 18-30 are unemployed. I get 1100 per month since i'm 20.
To save as much as possible i've renounced to everything which is not primary necessity. I spend maximum 50 euro per month for luxury stuff like dinner outside or a few games on steam. Live in a shitty house for rent but can save an extra 150 euro per month.
All of this because I don't have a house nor my family has any property (fucking faggots it was so easy to buy them before euro).

> mfw

are you poverty gaming

Go back to school and train for something that could get you a job immediately like nursing or paramedics. That biology degree will help a lot.

Do you own the actual metal? Stay away from dubious silver and gold certificates. They issue more than what can be redeemed. When the run on the banks occur, that's when you'll find out.

I was going to insult you for being unemployed, but then I realized you don't have much of a choice in it since Jews screwed up your economy. I'm sorry. I hope your country gets better and you can find a good job

Only top quality Canadian maple my friend, bought from the bank directly

Phew, good you are safe then.

>be 24
>in debt

If you have all that shit, then what are you bitching about? Stop being a greedy cunt and beating yourself up over thinking you need more money. Go enjoy life a bit before you're too old and regret it.

I only make 40k a year and vasically dropped out of highschool to work and pay rent starting age 17. My mother always had at least two jobs but I had no college fund, not that I would have even been able to use it, or succeed in post-secondary. She didn't even teach me how to drive.

It's not like I would've found a job anyway. Post-grad success is largely determined by networking you do as an undergrad, no? I'm the type who would've just barely been keeping their head above water in coursework, meaning even if I didn't have social anxiety, I probably would've prioritized studying over going to social events. I'd be just another story of an autist who thought it was good enough just be going to school instead of making friends+connections.

I wasn't meant to succeed.

I currently have no savings in the bank and am saving a down payment for my first car. I'm 27, I'll probably have enough for it in a year and a half, by which time I'll be driving for the first time at 29.

don't give up man. some people's paths are not always a straight and easy line.
There are a lot of people a lot worse off than you think. Not that it's supposed to make you feel better, just that life isn't that easy. Even people that /look/ like they have it easy, maybe sometimes don't. They could be in debt to their eyeballs, or hate their job and their family.

It's not worth it to compare yourself to others. It can be healing to focus on yourself every once in a while and just accomplishing YOUR realistic goals, rather than some other peoples' goals, or goals you think people expect of you.

I have 3k in my account, 21, making 100$ a week and going to college for a homeland security associates degree

How do I become rich? Should I swallow my pride and get EBT since my parents won't? We've always been poor.

>compare yourself to retards to think you are successful

Kill yourself OP.

You have to make financial study mandatory in all public schools again.

They don't want it though because it's so much easier having an easily ripped off population that can be used and thrown away at a whim.

Teaching financial literacy just brings competition to such vultures.

It's so simple too, the most complex thing you need to know is compound interest basically unless you want to work in finance or some shit

I'm not entirely sure it's that people are legitimately financial illiterate, though I'm sure a lot are.

A lot of times it's just the fact you can't escape having to use debt. Buying your first car, medical bills, going to college etc.
You can't just work a summer job and afford your next college semester that way anymore.

You can't even get an entry level job and eventually make actual salary anymore either. Like you could back in the day working at grandma's factory or whatever.

My brother is a virgin loser that lives at home with my parents too. Just waiting on the call that he's killed himself. I've tried to help, but nothing phases him at all. He's resigned to a life with absolute overwhelming nothingness. Money is meaningless to him and no amount of shitposting here will make it matter to you.

>$100 a week
>associate's degree
>EBT
>we've always been poor
Just go back to Africa.

why did you give up on schooling? you're already far enough in with a degree?

Yeah, if they never buy anything, commit social life suicide by cutting all contacts and becoming nothing more than robots with no personality. Sounds fun buddy...

Suicide is free m8, give it a shot

Well there's a lot more but it's all stuff you pick up as you go through it easily enough, but those first experiences can get you raped if you're not careful, so it's important to actually have practiced knowledge beforehand.

>be 21
>have $200 saved

Dad gave me a a 400k house with 100k capital at 18. not bad eh? I will take over his real estate development company when am older. Am all set :D

Kek
>virgin, no gf

I put 200 dollars a month into my 2 year olds retirement account. I feel it is more important than an education fund.

>be 21
>what's a saving

I bet it feels good to never work and have instant gratification because of mommy and daddy.

Literally time to start now. You don't have to put as much away due to compounding interest.

Damn, OP is kill.

Didn't mean to be so mean but you really gotta get out there, kid.

A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Never go into debt minus a mortgage, but avoid that too if you can.

It's the same reason why people get degrees for tens of thousands that ultimately lead no where: because no one fucking teaches them this shit. No one has fathers anymore and if they do, they're just as inept with money as everyone else. There isn't good advice floating around and economics and finance is a lot more boring than FIGHT 4 LBGT N AGSNT DRUMPT shit. I saved 30k in 2 years and my coworkers have 10-15, if that. Some of them have nothing at all.

There's a lot of tips and tricks to save money. IE I want a computer. I build it myself. If someone else wants a computer, they buy some alienware 5000$ shit where labor is half the price. When I have a car problem, I try and fix it myself first. Most of the time, I can. If I do need professional help, I bring the parts to the mechanic. I always buy used books, as long as they're in decent shape, I really don't care. My MP3 player is not the new ipod 700$ but a 35$ sandisk where I can download all of my music directly into it and is overall a superior product without the bells and whistles. Etc, etc.

Though, I think a big part of this is the cashless/direct deposit. You don't see the money in your hand anymore, so it's easy to see it as abstract.

The bar scene shit is pathetic. Drinks cost a shit ton unless you're getting the cheapest beer there. I know guys in their 30s still trying to go to college parties. I'm happy I got that shit out of my system in college and then got over it.

I would rather spend money and enjoy life than constantly save it to only enjoy it when I'm withered away.

College is easy to get free. Buy a shitty beater car.

exactly what most baby boomers did and now they have faggots like you whining at them "omg how did u get all dis stuff i cant save any money cause i need to spend it all being social wahhhhhh" go fuck yourself

>tfw I spent all my money on funs
>tfw no regrets

>MFW I have $10k saved and feel like the king of Siam around my peers

>At childrearing age with 100k in the bank
>"Beating the market" with muh index funds

You can't even afford to spread your seed. You're gonna need this kiddo
usa.gov/benefits

I saved slightly less than that from my junior year internship, and I did not live frugally

So many people don't even understand that they shouldn't spend their whole pay check every month...

>money invested in index funds growing 7% per year

lol no

Do it. It's not stealing if it's your taxes paying for it.

That is literally better than blowing it on dumb shit.

43 with 4.7 million liquid assets. House paid off and I drive a 6 year old Honda Accord.

49, fours kids under 14, two paid off cars, paying off the only home i own, work 60 to 70 hours a week, nothing in savings. feels bad, man.

then again, i lost everything in my first marriage and spent 10 years paying off the credit card debt she and courts saddled me with.

i often wonder what could have been had i made different choices. but i love my kids and they earnestly saved me from myself so not like i would ever change anything that got me to this point.

still, a lot of times i feel like homer simpson ... "why do i have to have four kids and no monies instead of four monies and no kids"?

Give me some money

30 and paid cash for a farm in KY from my overseas adventures serving in the Army. Not rich, but don't have to worry about much for the rest of my life.

I think some astonishing number of Americans have

>be 19
>Have 2.5k in the bank
>500 in cc debt
>No college loans cause community college

No. I save it.

Pay that shit off user. Say no to debt.

I am 30 and have $250k net worth according to my mint... I spend a lot of money too like football season tickets

Thx stem meme

>tfw you made a slight profit off of community college last year

I've got 65k saved at 23, feel like I'm behind. Don't know how to invest it either.

If they teach financial education in schools our debt based consumption economic mode will crumble

>be 28
> 70K in retirement saving
> laid for for 2 months
>down 5K in checking account.
> my skilled trade is seeing extreme work shortage.

Do what???

I make 49k and get a free personal use vehicle. Tech maintenance anyone with computer skills could do. Everyone else in the building is barely scraping enough for rent and food cause they chose a passion as a profession.

I dont save money though because my life is cripplingly boring and I'd an hero if I stockpiled earnings and avoiding buying things. Money begets comfort, but what's the point of having an empty life when you're young enough to actually enjoy it without back issues?

Give some life advice / tips please

Ex don't stick your dick in crazy and marry her

>Do what???

Create demand by destroying whatever you create

24 yrs old making $45k/yr
$7k in the bank right now
$17k in my 401k (stock up more than $2.50/unit YTD)

If it floats, flys, or fucks you lease it and never buy it.

> spend all money on gf
> dumps you
> poor
> cant get new gf

So what DO you buy?

>31
>had 75k in stock market 2 weeks ago, a slow buildup over the past 3 years
>in the last 2 days, it's down to 12k

Fuck my life. Also fuck my sleeping schedule.

What is that?

t. Chang

>Be 28

>7% growth per year

Fuck off, you're lying.

Because hoarding as much money as possible is the purpose of life right guys???

And then you die with zillions in your bank account, or are too old to enjoy to even a lesser extent.
Memento mori, fucking idiot.

he fell for the trades meme

the only reason to make money is to get women so technically it's not that bad

>t. guy who got tricked into buying a new car

>be 29
>have no savings
>make only $16,000 a year like literally everyone else I know. my city must be poor.

Stocks, precious metals, smart real estate and non luxury goods to live.

I just don't know what to spend it on. I have over 100k at age 22 just from working/intern.

Everyone should have to read "Your money or your life".

Stocks, precious metals, smart real estate and non luxury goods to live. 7% is easy with very safe investments.

yeah you have no business investing money if you have under 250k in savings

get fucked

>7% is easy with very safe investments.
t. never invested
