The verse you are quoting out of context is a criticism to those that dress up and make long flowery language of prayers not for the glorification of God but of themselves. Christ is setting a strong contrast against that. Just like when Christ tells us to hate our own wife, this is a way of contrasting how much more our love should be towards Him.
