Project: Australian Supepower

Brainstorming ideas for Australia to be a superpower by 2100.

>Build high speed rail connecting each capital city to regional areas, to take pressure off city housing and make regional centres more economically connected
>flood central Australia to make an inland sea, similar to the Nile irrigating Egypt. Use the dirt to build an inland mountain range, making inland Australia non desert
>Nuclear power now permitted
>Remove all international trade tariffs, except to protect our own food and energy security
>Limit union power to bring our construction costs to reasonable levels
>Jack up the skilled migrant program, but only take people from first world countries with real degrees (ie no more Pajeets with masters degrees where they learned nothing)
>Build a second strategic military base similar to Pine Gap with the USA in Darwin, in case Indonesia get any ideas
>Every Australian has to complete 1 year of national service (military or volunteer) in their country when they finish school.
>Targeted "whale hunter" programs to attract people like Elon Musk to move to Australia

Give me your ideas pollacks

The absolute madman! Where did he bought his pheromone perfume?

Your first point is essential. It's always bothered me that Australia is basically just 2 cities (both in the SW corner of the country), and a sandbox. Granted, Canada is basically 4 cities and an icebox, but at least we're spread out a bit more.

American-style negative rights. Simple freedom of speech without criterion. Simple right to bear arms without infringement. Simple right to privacy and to own property and be secure in one's home and personal effects barring some good reason to investigate.

>Flatten the tax structure over a 10 year period to incentivise people to create more value in the economy
>Simplify and cut welfare and social programs (eg arts, medical research) that could be more effectively done by Charities

>Build HSR connecting cities

>Path to citizenship takes 10 years similar to Switzerland. You have to demonstrate that you have integrated and are contributing to society. If you or a member of your immediate family are convicted of a serious crime, you are permabanned from re-entering the country, and your domestic assets are sold and the money used to fund your deportation.

>not wanting property tax so all those MPs who own 4+ properties trying to blame it on the Chinese have to pay more taxes.

I like this program because it doesn't require 100b of taxpayer money. My plan refers to better connectivity eg for Melbourne to Ballarat and Bendigo, bringing them under a 1 hour commute so people can live in regional areas but still access the Melbourne job market.

Lack of supply is a bigger issue than investors buying real estate.

Not sure any of these would make Australia a superpower. To be a superpower, you need to make shit that everyone in the world wants/needs to buy, then you have to have a fighting force big enough that no other country will be about to take the things you make without paying for them. Superpowers also always need a huge and well organised population, which Australia is probably more than 100 years away from.

>Make Australia WHITE
>Start investing in Nuclear power and Nuclear weaponry

In my view the best way is to have a productive population with a high birth rate.

You bring in quality immigrants, lower the cost of housing so they start families earlier, and incentivise them to have 3 or more children.

Here we have a concept of a "big Australia" as a potential future, of 50+ million people. This is a prerequisite to superpower status.

For those scoffing at us supporting such a population, the main island of Japan is the same area as Victoria but has 100 million people

You have a giant desert but your not allowed to build a nuclear power plant in it?

One technical challenge might actually be the lack of fresh water - nuke plants need a lot of water to serve as a heat sink/coolant fluid, because they aren't expelling hot gas like a coal/gas plant.

For Australia, the sidestep would be Nuclear/Desalination cogeneration plants, where you use the waste heat from the nuclear reactor to heat the seawater intake, which makes Reverse Osmosis or Distillation treatment much more efficient.

NUCLEAR WEAPONS PROGRAM NOW.

WE HAVE MORE THAN ENOUGH URANIUM TO DECIMATE THE ENTIRE PLANET, AND EVERY CREATURE UNDER THE SUN WILL LIVE IN FEAR OF US FOR ETERNITY.

NO ONE HAS NEARLY AS MUCH URANIUM AS US AND THEY WILL NEVER FORGET IT.

nationalize the banks

>NUCLEAR WEAPONS PROGRAM NOW.

THOSE THINGS AREN'T CHEAP, YOU KNOW!

Here's an idea; enslave the Indonesians. There's like... several hundred million of those fuckers.

Superpowers in the modern day are based on economic strength. Conscription doesn't give you that.

You need hundreds of millions more people to be a superpower to even compete, nevermind beat China and Brazil and India and the U.S in strength. Its literally impossible unless you increase the fertility rate to 8 immediately.

>flood central Australia to make an inland sea
Or you can just wait for global warming to happen, slow and steady

who let you out of the lumber camp?

We'll never hit USA levels but our GDP is about 1.5T. If we triple our population to 75 million by a combination of skilled immigration and increased birth rates, we are 4.5T economy with the same level of productivity, and if we increase our productivity by 1/3 we are a 6T economy which is bigger than Japan.

We are also more resilient to disaster, being surrounded by water and not seismically active. We produce more food than we need, and could do the same with energy. Irrigating central Australia and dropping our electricity costs by going to nuclear power makes us a serious global player.

Yes nukes with desal is another piece of the puzzle.

You are stupid as fuck.

We need to harness solar power/thorium/nuclear to do a massive desalination project and then plant lots of trees in the interior. Become the worlds best exporters of agriculture and lumber.

Radical politics over there bro

>Massive inland rainforest
>No more desert
>No more heatwaves caused by hot inland air blowing down south

Trees really are the ultimate solar power, no need to blow money and create waste buying Chinese solar panels just so Adam Bandt has something to jerk off over
