Last one of his, Italy (I'm guessing) 1918. Because of the mutiny his regiment was put at the front lines for the final battles of the war. They got screwed at

The Italian Front was really fucked up, basically the Western Front at 10,000+ ft in the cold. Battlefield 1 doesn't do it justice.

The Austrians didn't decide to start a war until the German foreign minister told them they should make unreasonable demands of Serbia, purposely, knowing it could be used as a catalyst to fight France&Russia.

The Austrians promised the Russians and French they WOULDN'T attack Serbia after the assassination, Germany pressured them into it because it was militarily stronger than them, and wouldn't necessarily remain so if they waited much longer for war.

If anyone is interested in the daily life of a Soldier during WW1, I recommend the book "Poilu" by Louis Barthas. It is the diary of a french soldier who was 3 years in the war.
From a german perspective, you have "Storm of steel" written by Ernst Junger, I havent read that one though.
If you like fiction, you have "All quiet on the western front", though I didnt enjoy that one.
