Bretty good, good savings, but fuck this city. I despise paying $5 for a shitty coffee everywhere.

If you aren't investing your 'savings' into yourself via professional training, education, self-improvement (wardrobe, appearance, network), while maintaining a reasonable emergency fund -- then you are doing it very wrong.

Hoarding wealth is utterly pointless. If you aim to be successful at all, and not a hermit, then you absolutely must spend money to make more money.

Even a hermit should be preparing for his isolation by investing in funds or self-sustainability. Not hoarding.

>If you aren't investing your 'savings' into yourself via professional training, education, self-improvement
Aside from clothing,

if your company isn't covering training and tuition, you done fucked up.

That's fucking dumb. What else am I supposed to be doing with my money? I have CPA and my company would pay for all my training/eduction I need. Also why should I buy shitty clothes or "networking" when I have a good enough job now?
Fuck you, I am hoarding it. I have nothing else to do with it.

Eh, I'm poor. Late twenties. No savings, still not finished with school, no car. I don't think there's a way back at this point. I don't take any assistance from the government though, I pay everything with the money I make working. That's all I can feel good about, I guess. I don't do illegal stuff, either.

I'm not sure I can unscrew myself, though. I turn 29 in a couple months. I'm on path for at least an RN, though I'm considering nurse practitioner. Just worried that by the time I get it in my mid thirties, no one will hire me.

get out of San fran, how are you affording that

even if you're living with family it's probably cheaper to live outside of San Francisco just because everything besides housing is so expensive as well

>Also why should I buy shitty clothes or "networking" when I have a good enough job now?
That is pretty stupid. Networking is key in every industry.

If you're not in your 40's you can always leverage a new job for an early raise, or use a job offer to leverage higher pay from your current company.

I fucked up and did that; wound up getting 2 bonuses and short-listed for promotion.

Most of this is done by just being an amiable person and rubbing shoulders with people that can "make shit happen"

glad to contribute to the data mine

You can't work if you don't have your own transportation in rural and semi-rural America.

A car doesn't denote wealth in the US like it does in Europe. You can get a car for $600 on craigslist, slap liability insurance on it, and off you go. It's cheap and necessary.

Back when I was a youngin' and lived in Idaho I used to ride a Honda CB750 motorcycle... in January. Care to guess why?

so tou could crash it and kill yourself

>aka rich as fuck by 2nd world's standart

I am surprised I didn't. Times were desperate. By the time I got to work my hands and feet were so numb I could barely use the clutch, brake, and shifter.

But I had no choice. It was my only transportation and work was 12 miles away on a lonely stretch of highway.

No work, no pay. No pay, no food. Either I starve to death in my little shack in BFE Idaho, or I man up and ride my motorcycle to work in 0F degree weather.

I am just glad there was no snow on the roads.

It doesn't denote wealth over here either. It's an absolute necessity for anyone who can't afford to live right next to their jobs because our public transit is expensive and inefficient with few exceptions. I can buy a $600 car here as well, the difference is that unlike US we have mandatory annual road vehicle inspections which make owning an old rustbucket a hell made of maintenance bills. I envy you. My Skoda costs way more than it's even worth every year in maintenance and re-inspection fees. It's a neverending nightmare. And I know every car I could afford would be just the same.
