Still, if there is an implicit military pact between EU member states, I'm surprised so many foreign Eastern Bloc countries were able to join before Russia struck back when Ukraine was considering joining, and even then during a very propitious set of circumstances, giving an indication that Putin really does not have the expansionist intentions people attribute to him, or if he does, he's doing a miserable job implementing them.

I think like the EEC, the Euro was a good idea. It's very convenient to hop over the border to the Netherlands and not to have to change money anymore.
But like the EU, the Eurozone should have been kapt small. It should have been restricted to a few countries that are compatible to eachother, like Germany, France, BeNeLux, Austria for example.

But instead, the political will to include countries that didn't really meet the criteria topped the people who had warned against negative consequences. And I mean political will on both sides, on the sides of the powerful economies as well as on the side of the eternal want-to-bes. Don't forget that Greece and Italy WANTED to be in the Eurozone, although they shouldn't have been admitted.

I have spoken with many Germans here who do not frequent Sup Forums. They all fall into one of two categories. Either they do not support the current state of affairs and have lost faith in Merkel, or they naively follow the MSM narratives.

Unlike in the US and UK, the media hasn't been outed as corrupt. Many Germans do not feel the need to question what they are told on the news. Many of them are afraid of the backlash of voting AFD and many are torn between voting CDU again or voting SPD. No one, and I mean no one, in real life openly admits they are going to vote for Shultz. The media are shilling him hard here, but most people know that he is cancer. As far as I can tell, he is just controlled opposition so that people will vote Merkel again knowing that she is the only party who stands a chance of beating him in the polls if these (((polls))) are true.
