When will the free market fix printers?

When will the free market fix printers?
INK is at most 10% of the cost of ink cartridges.

BIC pens cost pennies, ink is not expensive.

INK cartridges are pieces of technology designed to measure their ink and communicate with the machine- but mostly they are pieces of technology so they can prevent fraud as in people refilling themselves or trying to get past the measure that forces people to have full color cartridges even if they just want to print in black and have full black cartridge.

What if the government just came in and said " no, you are no longer allowed to arbitrarily force consumers to have colour ink cartridges even if they only want to print black "

Is this then a similar argument to pharmaceutical companies that need massive prophets to keep creating new products?

>buy printer
>replacing all ink carts will cost more than the printer itself
How is this even possible? I recall seeing something somewhere claiming that printer ink was by gram more expensive than human blood, plasma or semen.

Free market already fixed it. Hack the cartridges and run ink lines

You would think that a printer would simply print until it physically runs out of ink and the consumer would see this with their own eyes and indicate that they need more ink.

But modern printers do not allow this common sense approach and simply disable your ability to print if the cartridge is saying it " might " not have enough ink to print.

Basic business 101. I remember when dell used to give out free prinert with every pc purchase. They know that money is in the inc.

Its basicly a plot with all printer manufacturers to keep inc prices high.

Jesus, this is true and is why my printer is currently unusable
>low on cyan/magenta/yellow
>plenty of black
>cannot print plain text documents due to low ink

its cheaper to go to Staples , email them my shit and have them print it than to buy new ink carts or have them filled

It would take me a decade to spend as much at the printing counter at Staples as I would buying new carts.. fuck them.

Damn that's another thing that angers me is you have to live in a city to have access to means that can bypass this. I literally drove to the city 8 hour drive yesterday and got back now and I bought just black ink cartridges and it's useless.

oh yah I have one three and a half miles down the road..

Buy a used hp 4000 series laserjet printer. They last for ages, mine is from 2002 and still going

Inkjet printers are a scam, buy a laser printer. It's only black and white but you can get a cartridge of toner that can print 1000 pages for about $15

>Go to Staples
>Cheap printer costs $35 with cheap stock ink installed
>New ink for said printer costs $50
>I bought 6 printers
>When it is out of ink I sold it on craigslist for $10
They definitely are skimming money on it.

Did you feel bad for passing the burden onto someone else?

>only want to print black
So get a laser printer

what can you do when the rubber rollers that feed the paper dry out and just spin?

printer either develops a paper jam from sucking it too much paper or an out of paper fault because it can't grasp one sheet..

>When will the free market fix printers?

When there's a free market for printers.

>>When it is out of ink I sold it on craigslist for $10
Nice

Printer ink is like $9k/gal

>You would think that a printer would simply print until it physically runs out of ink and the consumer would see this with their own eyes and indicate that they need more ink.
Like 20 years ago when i was a kid my family had a printer. I made some invitations for a birthday party and used ALL the colors and some cool rainbow font (before rainbows where gay) and the printer used up a lot of the colored ink but it just kept going and replaced missing colors with what ever it had on hand.

its a self fixing problem. In 10 years time the printer and physical media will be as antique as the pager or camera film. Why would you need paper when all records are electronic and you can have everything you want to read on your wafer thin, flexible, waterproof future tablet that has a battery life of 200 hrs and charges wirelessly in 30 mins? they are just milking what they can before it all goes away

Who uses printers in current year?

I run a printer store, Ink is super cheap but original INK uses some top notch tech and it is expensive to make. Crap Ink is super cheap. Our company makes around 80,000 dollars a month just recharging ink cartridges. Imagine how much we make recharging toner...

I say keep prices high :) it's good for our business.

Thats the whole point of their business, the cartridges not the printers. U can get a brand new printer for free if u search enough.

Epson wont allow u to print anything if 1 color runs out.
"Oh shit Im out of magenta, better not print this important black and white contract."

Everyone that gives you a reciept.

I do the taxes for the people on my reserve and I print them and send them next time I go to the city but now I have to go again right away just to get colour ink so I can print these black and white taxes.

Yes, be a good goy, and dont keep physical copies of any of your documents. Keep it all on the (((cloud))) where we can change documents without anyone knowing.

Indians have to pay taxes?

Just buy a cheap black and white laser printer. Are u seriusly using ink for that?

you can't get it mailed?

you don't just go on ebay and get dodgy refilled inks?

>not using a laserjet
>falling for the ink jew and not using toner instead
I don't care OP

sage

Yes if they want their tax refund.

this

Im amazed there is no company that sells forged cardriges for half the price. Its fuckin goldmine of sheckles....

It's a mistake for the ignorant to make such as I and many others will and have made.

Inkjet cartridges have DRM on them

>Its basicly a plot with all printer manufacturers to keep inc prices high.

B...but Sup Forums told me the free market would keep prices down! Companies should be lowering prices instead of agreeing with each other to keep prices up.

" Sup Forums " doesn't mean anything. There are national socialists and libertarians here. So a libertarian told you that.
