>A national Belgian court asked the Court of Justice of the European Union to clarify a legal question >"Do we have to provide the right to a so-called asylum visa to all refugees in the world who are in danger so they can come here to claim asylum?" >Advocate General of the Court of Justice of the European Union (whose advice is generally followed) advised the court to answer "yes, you have to" >The Court's decision is in a few hours >If the Court follows the Advocate General's advice, not just Belgium but all European Union member states have the legal obligation to hand out on-demand visas to anyone in the world who is in some danger of persecution/violence.
tl;dr: The Court of Justice of the European Union might outcuck Merkel in a few hours by deciding to extend an open invitation to two or three times Europe's population in refugees.

Yup. The thing about supranational courts is that their decisions and precedents are binding on all member states. So if this decision goes ahead and 10,000,000 Nigerians decide that they're being oppressed by their government and that they like the idea of lazing about on the beaches of the Adriatic for the rest of their lives, your government has to let them in.
First time I've seen that turbocuck Schulz smile. Bit like Rompuy when he met Gaddafi.
