McCarthy was right

When exactly did the narrative go from:
>mccarthyism was a witch hunt! he was a paranoid schizo for believing that communists infiltrated hollywood and the government!
to:
>yes, there were communists in hollywood and the government, so what? first amendment! down with capitalism!

The former is what I was taught in grade school growing up. The latter is what I am now taught in college. When exactly did the narrative change?

when it was impossible to deny anymore and colleges turned into commie making factories...

I was skeptical about the McCarthyism narrative as soon as it was introduced in high school. Better question is why the school system is pushing the narrative to begin with. Why would the government want people to turn a blind eye to traitors?

mccarthyism was fucking retarded because it was all assumptions and fear mongering; however there were actual communists in hollywood and government

Because the truth is coming out and (((they))) can't hide it anymore

the scene where they call the jew women kike is golden

He was right on almost every accusation, many have been proven in hindsight, but couldn't be at the time.

So what you're saying is: "he wasnt wrong"

There were some commies in Hollywood

There were also some innocent people that McCarthy destroyed because he was an autistic sperg

Is this really too complicated for you to grasp?

Stalinist purges was fucking retarded because it was all assumptions and fear mongering; however there were actual dissenting proles in the factories and government.

>many have been proven in hindsight, but couldn't be at the time.
So the standard is guilty until proven innocent?

And you wonder why people call you fascist

I was taught when I was very young that McCarthy was right, by my dad. Around the same time the internet had sprung up (think: Netscape years).

That's about when it happened. Around the same time that the truth became more-or-less unbridled.

>HURR LIBERALS DESTROYING MUH FREE SPEECH
>HURR MCCARTHY DID NOTHING WRONG

explain how this isnt hypocritical

That's the only thing that he was wrong about, was the lack of evidence.

Read up on the Verona Papers, translated Russian cables that proved McCarthy right in many cases.

>>mccarthyism was a witch hunt! he was a paranoid schizo for believing that communists infiltrated hollywood and the government!
Is that a fact? Pretty sure you would always have had to have been extremely naive to believe this. I mean, fucking Hollywood? There's no question it was full of those red fucks.

The Jews really did a number on our schools. Most Social Studies/Government textbooks (written by Jews) and classes (curriculum set by Jews) teach "McCarthyism" as an unamerican evil, and so you end up with a society of people like this dickhead traitor right here who have been brainwashed that up is down and down is up.

And there's a million examples of this kind of bastardized education. The FDR era in particular is taught almost entirely through lies.

yeah which makes it fucking retarded

You don't wait the robber to shoot you before defending yourself and that's still self defense.
There is nothing hypocritical about shutting down communists. Besides we're not talking about some Berntards crying about capitalism between two weed joints. The US government was actually compromised in proportions that surpassed even what McCarthy thought.

In principle, it isn't, but the partial difference was that there was a very real enemy that explicitly wanted to conquer the world and eliminate liberty and democracy throughout the entire world in order to replace it with some kind of socialist autocracy. Furthermore, in government, allowing communists there would be literally like today allowing Islamists in government, in which there would be a real concern that they could subvert the government in order to help the spread of communism.

On the other hand, there is no fascist or racist or bigoted regime out there that could destroy the US from without, and while people wish such views could change policy, it would be through democratic means, and not secretly subverting the rule of law.

Jailing a citizen for their political beliefs, not their actions, is barbarism.

You faggots are so inconsistent when it comes to recognizing rights.

>Jailing a citizen for their political beliefs
Good thing that didn't happen, you stupid leaf. Holy shit, McCarthyism was a mistake and a dark chapter of America history, but you're making it very easy to defend it by completely misrepresenting it as worse than it is.

No please, explain to me how McCarthy dindu nuffin

You talk like a shill: forget the narrative, seek the truth. Re-examine the anti-McCarthy stories and you will see that on their own they fail. They depend on emotional arguing, ignoring the history of organized revolutionary communism, personal attacks on McCarthy, and doubt-planting rather than proper vindication. Then separate from that you have Venona. Venona means it's not a matter of narrative or opinion. The known history of organized revolutionary communism at that time means that it is one hundred per cent possible that McCarthy could have known what he claimed.

>McCarthyism was a mistake and a dark chapter of America history
I fucking hate speaking to you stupid leafs.

accusations without proof mean fucking nothing and dont call me a traitor cause you can't figure that one out

When they brainwashed people to not shoot them on sight.
>baby steps

>QUESTION YOUR HERITAGE AND TRADITIONS user!!!!! QUESTION THEM!!!!!!
>see theu aren't perfect
>maybe they aren't great either
>they are just ok
>they are kinda authoritarian and mean
>they are very not nice
>they are cruel
>they are evil, destroy them

They brainwash us with baby steps. Each step corrupts and distorts just enough to go unnoticed

People were jailed for advocating a political belief through legal means. Are you going to pretend that they weren't?

Sup Forums hypocrisy is on full display in this thread. You see it, but you're turn into a defensive, insecure cunt when confronted with it.

See McCarthy was after people that were acting to turn the US socialist.
Besides, it's like you didn't read my above comment. You are speaking about a time when China had fallen to socialism just one or two years prior. Half of European landmass over the last twenty years. Do you think you have to wait for communists to be in power and then oppose them only when they come for you?

Also McCarthy method was terrible but in the end you are demonizing him when he was merely giving his opinion too. McCarthy had very little power, only a voice. People like you are trying to turn him into the great Vizier.

>People were jailed for advocating a political belief through legal means.
Like? Some people were blacklisted or had their reputations ruined, but who was jailed? Try backing up your claims. And for the third time, I'm not defending jailing someone for their beliefs. This ironic, coming from a leaf, when I can be imprisoned in your fucking country if I spread hate speech, e.g., complained about immigration.

>I am a Leaf, therefore I must defend hatespeach laws
stellar argument, retard

If you're against hatespeech laws, but defend McCarthyism, then you are a hypocrite. Are you a hypocrite?

>retard
kek, the fucking irony, considering I just said I'm not defending McCarthyism, except to the extent that you're making it worse than it actually is.

I also asked you to name someone who was jailed by McCarthyism. Was it beyond your reading comprehension to understand that?

Bump
