I don't think you understand, fillon lost the second the scandal was about fictional jobs. Chirac and Juppe were caught in a similar scandal years ago that chased them the entire duration of their term in office and once the presidential immunity was over, they got them. If it had been any other types of scandal, Fillon might have walked it off but that specific kind of crookery really triggers them. Fillon is already dead in the water and to think we can count on the vote being evenly split would be a serious tactical mistake.
