Why would sending the best warriors off to die make humanity better? That would leave humanity with the disabled, retarded, pussilanimous and women. This largely happened in the first two world wars which explains the abundance of sissies, cowards and weak in our population today. A war like that would be a waste of time, money, and lives. Sure it takes a job to rebuild after a war but then you would only be slowing down all the economic process that you could have made without the war.

Also nuclear weapons would render such a war impractical because people would just use nuclear weapons to kill each other.
