Do you have a problem, leaf?
Don't even remember any of this happening. Is this from extended cuts or was I asleep when it happened?
shite desu lad, pure cash grab. Should have been 2 films only, and centred more on big Bilbo.
Still better than Harry Potter. But what isn't?
fucking awful.
Garbage cash grab. Terrible script and acting. Shameful fan service. Should've been two films at most.
Tauriel and elf-dwarf romance plot is an insult to Tolkien.
Tolkien is popular for a reason but its a very black and white story.
What's wrong?
I saw the CGI during the Smaug encounter and shit my pants it so bad. (I never saw move btw it look like shit)
The LOTR movies raped not only the story, but also many important chars.
I just watched the first Hobbit, and it made me mad as fuck
>What does Sup Forums think about The hobbit
I try my best to suppress those 3 hobbit movies' existence
I was really disappointed. The first one was somewhat OK, and it only got worse from there.
Extended version, yeah. In that version, you actually get to see the Dwarven Goat Cavalry in the battle; as opposed to Thorin (and the others no one remembers) magically summoning a Goat.
To answer OP, it's sad. Jackson didn't even want to do it, but they made him at the last minute. Even though I was generally disappointed in the series, and I was annoyed at the shoehorning of minorities into shots, I still wouldn't mind more Middle Earth stuff in the future.
Why does Sup Forums love a story about destroying fascism?
>Leafs
this bs scene was cut from the original mvies version for good reasons.
>dwarf-elb romance
why
what game is this?
Lol wtf
Also this
this physically hurts to watch.
>burger brain fanboy
I actually really like the first hobbit movie, almost as much as the LOTR movies even. The second two really should have been one movie though. There were some great moments, like Thorin's struggle with the dragon-sickness, but overall it was lackluster and silly. Plus there were niggers in the crowds at Lake-Town just for the sake of (((diversity))).
The Hobbit movies could have been so much worse, though. I'm surprised they're even this good.
The first one is actually really great. You can tell there was a lot of love and care put into it and it's much more coherent than the other two in terms of its structure. It manages to find a middle ground between serious LotR style storytelling and comedic, lighthearted moments. I feel like it's the adaptation that's truest to the spirit of the book, moreso than the earlier animated version.
This video outlines the problems with the third movie specifically pretty well

A quick way to illustrate how massively unprepared for filming they were is that the Lord of the Rings had 3-4 years of pre-production and the movies were all filmed at the same time. The years inbetween them were spent touching them up, making sure the editing was as tight as possible, doing some minor reshoots.
The Hobbit movies were, by comparison, a complete mess in terms of production. They had 6 months of pre-production compared to LotR's 4 years, and while this gave them enough time to do the first movie pretty well, everything spiralled out of control from there. The decision to make it a trilogy instead of a two-part movie was really damaging as well. Originally they wanted the climacting Battle at the end of the third movie to be all practical, done on a set with actors with real props. But in the end it's all just CGI.
ABSOLUTE dog shit.
>No black characters
That seems so easy to defend against. He's flying and he clearly isn't getting the most effective stabs in despite his superior elf abilities. All they have to do is make an X with their blades and crouch yet they don't do it. What stupid bitches.
>trying to argue the realism and artistic merit of a scene that was blatantly shoved in just to sell Legolas action figures
user please
The Lord of the Rings was a unique and beautiful series of films. The Hobbit movies were just more Hollywood "sameness," they were a cash grab by people who didn't understand why the LOTR movies were as popular as they were.
>close ups on black and asian extras
>more vibrant diversity por favor!
>the orcs are white with blue eyes now
>random romance subplot shoehorned in
>fanfiction tier mary sue girl power character added
>shit cgi and effects everywhere
>Each has 3 times the budget of Return of the King
>Ian McKellan is tired as fuck and clearly just wants to go home
lotr
humans - whites
hobbits/dwarves - asians

wtf is going on? last week i started getting back into middle earth stuff, and now everywhere i look i see lotr and hobbit and silmaril shit. WHAT IS HAPPENING, STOP SYNCHRONIZING WITH ME UNIVERSE AHHHH
The hobbit series was very good although a bit behind the first trilogy which was a masterpiece anyway.
They MUST be watched in their respective director cut (extended) version in order to be fully enjoyed.
These 6 movies are for the cinema what Skyrim/Oblivion are to video games.
milestones.
>they were a cash grab by people who didn't understand why the LOTR movies were as popular as they were.
I don't think that's fair. The crew was basically the same as LotR, they rounded up all the old prop guys, set designers, concept artists, etc. They just didn't have enough time. Six months of pre-production vs three and a half years for LotR. Even after those six months when Peter Jackson came back to direct they had to throw out basically all their designs and start from scratch. Sometimes the script was being written as they filmed, and sets were being built and torn down on the same day because they didn't know if they'd need them again.
The beginning of the 1st Hobbit movie was good, Bilbo's scene with Smough was great, though the Beginning of the 3rd hobbit movie should have been the end of the 2nd. Everything else about the trilogy was at best forgettable, and at worst cringey.
