I have compiled my QuickSg python script into a c executable. It works on linux. I'm unlikely to build one for windows. I might make one for android.
In the next day I will set up a github repository and pop the link on the blog. I will also try my hand at packaging the executable as a .deb package so u can install it with your package manager and run direct from your terminal without having to run it via python.
Quicksg as a python file was 300 odd lines of code. The C file is over 8000 lines. Phew. Much of it tho is silly stuff that I can reduce in the next version by simply declaring my variables.
It doesn't run a great deal faster than the python version, I suspect because it's pretty small and just hits various parts of the json file.
Usually the catalog on a web page takes about 30 seconds or so to fully resolve. All that ugly javascript. Quicksg can retrieve the entire catalog and dump it to screen in 1.43 seconds. It would be faster if my internetz were faster.
The guthub repository will have the python source, the setup utility and the resultant c code. In addition i will bake a .deb file and add it along with the raw c exectuable.
Then depending on requests I will pop up other package manager packages based on request. There are utilities like alien that make it possible.
