Are you asking me my opinion? I would say it depends, but generally MMOs attract socially oriented people over competitive oriented people.
But it varies. Some people hang out in major cities and /sit and talk about bullshit with guild mates, while others grind in PvP arenas and compete, and others try to be world first to take down a boss with their guild.
If you're in a guild and get a world first or you're PVPing in arena and rank very high on global leaderboards, I would put that person up there high tier SC and CS players. You have to make on the fly decisions and be a good team player to be successful like that.
