Communism is the next stage of humanity following the capitalist stage.
What exactly is communism according to Marxist-Leninists:

Yes, but it is not any kind of dictatorship: the dictatorship of the proletariat is the intermediate system between capitalism and communism, when the government is in the process of changing the ownership of the means of production from private to collective ownership, it is much more fair to have a society where the working have control of the means of production instead of a 1% of private owners have such control. The socialist state, representing a dictatorship of the proletariat is governed through the process of democratic centralism.

The classification or category of "worker" is a meaningless social construct. Its an arbitrary distinction between human beings that is not rooted in science and in fact does not exist. Who exactly is a "worker" in today's society? This idea is built on outdated and backward throwbacks to the industrial revolution. Its 2017. There is only one class, the human class. I mean if you try to divide people into these "classes" where exactly does one class end and another begin? At what point is someone not a worker anymore and labeled a capitalist? Seems like a really arbitrary and divisive thing to me. Lets all work together in a harmonious hierarchy of business owners and laborers towards a common goal and stop all of this conflict on this outdated and unscientific idea of "class."

I lived in socialism in then-Czechoslovakia, so companies were owned by state, but they were run by managers just like in capitalism, with the one exception that they had to be members of the communist party - a new privileged class. Ordinary workers didn't have any special control, they even couldn't negotiate the salary.

A communist society would free individuals from long working hours by first automating production to an extent that the average length of the working day is reduced and second by eliminating the exploitation inherent in the division between workers and owners. How do you automate the production if you don't know the costs of the automation? How do you know the cost to society of building such a machine is worst than the benefits of its lifetime? How do you know that making a machine would actually save you resources and not make things worse?
Look at the North Korean tv livestream, they try their best at automating everything, why aren't they filthy rich and more developed than anyone after 50 years of undisputed marxist leadership? This contradiction really makes me think.
