Think about it this way: If you had to choose between a neighbor that was 1. Same race, different religion (Islam) or 2. Different race (black), same religion (Christian) Which would you choose? Assume they live by-the-book. The answer, in my opinion, is #2. With #1 you risk being subjected to 'inter-faith anger' and the possibility that your kids might someday become Muslims. But a god-fearing Christian is somebody that you can trust and love.
Now, lets talk about cultural DNA: Memes. We love to talk about Romans, how awesome it was, and how they laid the groundwork for Europe through Romanization. But how do we account for non-Romanized parts of Europe that today are far superior to Southern Europe? In Scandinavia, there was no Roman presence, but between the 10th and 11th century, the people became Christians. With new faith, the 'barbarians' put their berserking to better use, but more importantly began the transition to the Scandinavia we see today: one that consistently is amongst the happiest, most advanced and cultured regions in the world. The teachings of Jesus became part of their cultural DNA. Without many outside influences, they really took, and today people are all nice to each other, give to charity and speak their sins even if they say "Oh, I'm not a Christian, that's crazy". But they do live and act like good Christians because it is all they know.
The point is that in a small, homogenous country like Scandinavia, there isn't a huge need (yet) for a revival because of minimal outside influence and the constant passing on of good moral teachings even without faith. In the United States, this simply is not possible. We are too large, too diverse, with too many outside cultural influences.
The only thing that can save this country is a Christian Revival. We won't lose the industrialized science or the medicine or stop investigating the universe. But it will solve all our problems. Every last one of out social issues can be rectified by the teachings of Jesus, which we can discuss if any anons would like.

I consider myself a "Christian Atheist". I agree with you that Judeo-Christian moral values are the foundation of western civilization. The two concepts are inter-connected and you can't have one without the other. Get rid of these values, and all of western civ will crumble with it.
The reasoning for this, as you said, is because of "memes", or a sort of cultural evolution. Cultures with better values are prosperous, and cultures with worse values fail and go extinct.
