I've talked with cops that are somewhat nostalgic of the time: when users would just die quietly tucked away in some corner; not the frothing, psychotic meth heads they have now.

Meth is a lot like alcohol. Most people who use it use it on the weekends for fun with friends and there's nothing sinister about it. A minority are fiends and can't control themselves and do things like stay up for days, become psychotic, etc.

You can't even tell someone's high on meth unless they're off their tits.

I once knew a dealer who was a functioning heroin addict and had done every drug imaginable. He is for the legalisation of all drugs (although not really since it would eat up his business), but he did say you could not legalise meth, as it is that bad.

If it was legalised you would see the rate go up, quietly at first, then people start doing it socially because its normalised, then people start doing it secretly on the week days. The government knows an Industrial nations has no morals or purpose beside consumer culture. It would make the place a shit hole and be very unproductive.

Legal as prescription would both take existing users away from dealers (putting them out of business) and thereby reducing new users. I don't think anyone would think it should be retail.

In America public hospitals cannot deny treatment to anyone for any reason. That's what people like you never understand. We already have public healthcare in the US: it's called the ER and it's profoundly expensive and inefficient. I don't understand how you could believe that further destroying people's access to health care will save us money. I bet you've never even paid a premium.

Yeah I've quit cigarettes/weed/alcohol tons of times. Anyone who talks about "withdrawal" from cigarettes is full of shit, they're about as "hard" to quit as weed.

It is a mental illness. Pushers need to be punished, and users need to be helped....Institutionalized while getting help would probably work best. This applies to all drugs. People who use know it is killing them, but don't care about the consequences. This is part of the mental illness. Doing the same thing over and over, and expecting different results is insanity.

There will be people who simply don't get it, and I hate to say that they are incapable of getting the idea of a life without drugs. There are plenty of intelligent users who deal with addiction and can be shown the way out. The problem is that you can show someone the door, but it is their choice if they walk through it.
