What is considered an 'average' wage?

What is considered an 'average' wage?

Do you earn an average wage? What do you think about people who earn a lot less than you. Is society to blame?

data shill thread

>What is considered an 'average' wage?
Literally the median.

If you make less than the median national income, you need to do better.

when someone talks about 'average' wage you actually should look for median wage - one thats most common in a group, its lower than average becouse latter also takes into account banksters, CEOs, people living from dividends etc.

>Average
>Median
>not mean

The median is a more accurate portrayal of a larger population, because it cannot get thrown off by outliers

Outliers are important, especially in large populations.

>Outliers are important, especially in large populations.

Looking at outliers is exactly why this country is in the economic shit that it's in.

>SOME PEOPLE ARE POOR! WE NEED MORE WELFARE!

>SOME PEOPLE ARE RICH! CUT CORPORATE TAXES SO I CAN BE RICH TOO!

If you manage your money right, you can be pretty good with $25-30hr.

No, the economy is the reason it's in economic shit. Job growth in minimum wage is on the rise, job growth in mid-high wage isn't. The mean is very important.

If you just want a common wage, you'd still want something like the modal wage which would be more representative of your 'large population' model than a median. Median is (((their))) statistical trickery.

I earn average wage for Sweden I guess which is about 18k Swemoney after tax.

But I invest a minimum of 10k every month which by projections will net me my first million by the time I'm 30.

>tfw just your average pleb

>Job growth in minimum wage is on the rise, job growth in mid-high wage isn't. The mean is very important.
But by your own words, that's EXACTLY why the mean is misleading.
>There's a growing division between social classes.
>Half the population is making $25k a year
>Half the population is making $75k a year
>Everything is fine, the average income is $50k

Average is like 30k or so. I make 8x that much.

I make $80k a year, which is pretty average.

That's a problem of interpretation. If average wage is $1bil and I'm making $12 an hour, that's less useful information than 90% of people making $15 an hour and me making $12/hour.

Median is useless information all around.

>Median is useless information all around.

I think it's more useful, because it takes the size of the population into account.

If the median is $15 and you're making $12, you can honestly say that over 50% of all people are doing better than you.

Meanwhile if you look at the average, it's harder to tell where you stand against other individuals.

You're talking out of your ass. Median is better for determining a typical value, which is why it's used more often than not

I don't know. My mother has been using the "living wage" meme since I could remember. She wasn't an activist or anything and I can't remember if she ever explained it in depth.

I make just under $14/hr. I doubt it's an average wage, but I am thankful as I don't have a GED or anything and no other place will pay me anywhere near my current wage. It's barely enough for me. I'd surely be fucked if i had a family to support.

Median is less useful in those interpretations than mode or even a weighted average.

Yeah gonna suck when you get replaced by a botnet toaster in a year or two.

>What is considered an 'average' wage?
A loaf of bread, a teacup of salt and a few bottles of drinkable water.

In my opinion at least.

I literally have no where else to go.

What should I do?

Should I make preparations for suicide?

All wages/All working people = average wage

I would compare it with the GDP per capita of your country.

>552x767

Baby size

> working at walmart

jesus christ, I'd never stoop so low. Why don't you just join the military user?

So what's the story with this dude?
Why is he so sad?

Already in my mid 30s. There's no way I'd be able to pass basic and I don't have a GED, so I'm more or less fucked for the rest of my life.

I should have just joined the Job Corps and went right into a trade, instead of becoming homeless during my best years and working at Walmart for over a decade. Biggest regret of my life next to not investing in bitcoin when it was $7.

Whaddyahmean? It's just the reality of things.

$36,000

1/3 towards rent or mortgage

1/3 towards food, cable, cell phone, insurances

1/3 towards savings

Fuck, why is everything so gloomy in that room?
I can see some people are active but I can almost see some dark shadow entity trying to manifest in that room.
It's soul crushing just to look at these people or place.
THE. FUCK.

You work at walmart?

D A T A M I N E

Apologies, I see you said you did in a later post. So.. Look into merchandising. Similar thing, better money and shit.

Feel free to interpret any way you wish.

Yes. What about it?

I think the average wage is something like 24 grand, nationally.

I only ever see poorfags working for $8-12 an hour, and yuppies working for $80-160k, or so, salary.

I don't ever see or hear of any comfortably middle-class workers. Just two different worlds, far removed from eachother.

You nerds make me so irritated. Learn a skill. Play an instrument. Go outside. Do something to better yourself. Christ, I know guys that have passed the CompTIA A+ exam in three weeks and used it to get an IT job and double their pay. Yet people are on here whining: "Oh poor me. I can't do anything."

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm dumb as a box of rocks (as you might have witnessed). Why should I deal with age bias/discrimination from the incoming waves of fresh 20-somethings?

It's not that I like doing this job. It's just a place that has kept me employed for over a decade.

Does Walmart hire anyone? I would never hire that hippie to the left until he fixes his hair and puts on a pair of real pants.

What about a car? No one needs cable. you need internet, though.

Electricity bill
Gas bill
Cellphone bill & payment
Internet bill
Food budget
Water bill
car payment
Insurance payment

One third of 36 grand is 12 grand. 12 grand divided by 12 months is 1 thousand dollars a month. One thousand dollars a month, divided by the aforementioned number of things is about $125 for each thing. Now, even an econo car is a good $300mo car payment, and males under 25, even with a clean driving record, get slapped with $250mo or so insurance bills, and many states require insurance to be driving. So, the numbers don't really add up.

That's only in shitholes like Seattle or LA, you say. But, you're only meaningful career experience is as, let's say, a paralegal, or a web designer, or a shipping logistics coordinator or some other thing in which there's really no place for you, career-wise, in Podunk Iowa or Bumfuck Montana.

So, you get what i'm saying?

In America it's either YALE or JAIL.

The middle class here in East Coast USA almost doesn't exist, at least I don't know anyone and haven't known anyone in it.

The poorfags are working for $8-13 an hour for their jail sentence while the YALEfags are $80k+ and sitting comfortably.

I don't care to argue this with anyone, because it's not an argument for me. It's all I've ever seen an known in my entire life. I can't debate it, there's nothing to say.

spectacular peaks

The costs of living also vary wildly. Go live someplace like Montana or Wyoming and $20k/year is a completely different story.

He's been there longer than I have. Also, it's a bit more lenient working on overnights.

We have niggers from west Africa that barely know english. I guess all you have to do is show the meager documents required for work and you're good to go.

I had nothing except a five year off and on work history with Burger King and no GED when i was hires in 2006. I guess they hire anyone.

But your salary also goes down. A teacher makes $27k in East Texas. In Houston, they'd make $50, with any experience.

Right, also teachers unions are especially cancerous.

That's what Wal-Marts does to you, it's a soul-sucking corporation, I remember times I'd get off work and just feel physically and mentally drained. I worked for them for 5 years before getting canned for "losing my temper too many times".

Right now I'm working on getting a degree in IT to get into Robotics Engineering, so got something going while I waste away with Target while also trying to get into Home Depot.

Fuck the assholes that did away with the old Blue Vests and replaced them with those shitty navy blue shirts, those vests were comfy as fuck and just nice to wear.

Just get a quick cert, work on your yuppie talk, and get working. 64hr weeks in a room with Poojeet is better than working on your 4 year, all the while at Wal-Mart (or even HD) Gtfo of that stuff, as fast as you can. You're not doing yourself any favors, working retail or service industry.

Math PhD here making 300k a year.

Good job in getting out. I hope your hard work pays off.

At least the vests we have now have easy access pockets.

What certs would you recommend

Im think of buckling down and going for A+ and CCNA then look for work

what shithole do you live in? Average is 50k across Canada

Go do fucking HVAC on Craigslist, or just, your choice.

I don't use monopoly money when discussing money on Sup Forums.

Ever since the Second World fell, Labor has been taking it up the ass to Capital. Skilled, unskilled, doesn't matter, Capital has been fucking Labor's ass raw. Trying to be Best Labor has been a losing proposition - because you're still Labor. You're still selling your time for money and your time keeps getting less and less valuable.

Maybe that has turned with Trump? Dunno. We'll see.

Two ways to deal with it, the low road or the high road. The Low Road is the NEET life. Live hand to mouth, don't participate in the assfucking any more than you have to, try to rip off the system where you can get away with it.

The High Road is to stay out of debt, get together a stash and try to join the ranks of Capital.

Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I'd say the Low Road has less risk, but much less reward too. Both require about the same amount of discipline to sustain. If you don't have it, you will fall back into wagecuckery.

I make maybe $26,000/y at 34 but am worth well over a million on paper since I co-founded a company that has gained a lot of traction recently. I live in a big city and people wonder how I survive on that little money but I have no car, no long term liabilities, no kids and no official gf despite dating girls in 3 or 4 different cities I have to travel to a lot for work.

The government thinks I'm poor, I pay little to no income tax and since I travel for work all the time I get all my expenses paid. I have a fabulous lifestyle despite appearing to live near the poverty line. It's a sweet fucking deal despite being a bit of a gamble.

>buckling down and going for A+ and CCNA then look for work
>buckling down
Those certs are a joke and at best will get you a job answering phones at the help desk. Learn a trade, you'll be happier and healthier. That said I work quality control for a huge multi-national, completely underemployed (MS Chem Eng)

I bet you turned down a dozen offers to relocate to some shithole though. Seconding trades.

except that you'll have to tax a shit tonne when you want to use the money.

Hey man, I work in tech. Please don't go for those certs if you aren't in the industry. the A+ especially is totally worthless. You should learn to code for free online, then build your portfolio by getting involved in open source projects. Once you have atleast 8-12 months experience, go to dice.com and you will be able to get some work. Look around town as well.

Fuck that Ill just try for a trade

I don't get a lot but I try to live within my memes

>What is considered an 'average' wage?
Heavily depends on where you live.

>turned down a dozen offers to relocate to some shithole though
Just a few, I kinda regret not moving to the extreme north, but I'm in a pretty comfy rural area in eastern ON, I could have it a lot worse, I can't even complain about the 45 minute drive to work, there is not even any traffic

Your life sounds pathetic

data mining much?

No

In 2016 the US government considers a family of 3 to be Middle Class if they have a total household income between 100k and 350k.

The "average" hourly US income for 2016 in the US was $25.

35k to 75k for a family of 3 is considered to be "lower middle class".

A family of 3 earning 20k or less in 2016 was considered to be living in poverty.

An annual income in the US of 11k or less for an individual is considered to be living in poverty.

Median US income for an individual in 2016 was 48k, top 10% was 125k, top 1% was 450k.

In 2016 the US had 540 individuals with a net worth of more than 1 billion.

Worldwide in 2016 there were 1,800 billionaires, with a combined worth of 7.5 trillion, or about 4.1 billion each.

In 2016 all US Federal, State and Local government spending was "guesstimated" to be 7.1 trillion, so if you confiscated every asset of every billionaire in the world it would fund the US for only a single year.

Forbes recently estimated that Bill Gates, 81 billion, will be worth 1 trillion within 25 years.

I'm currently doing a Masters in ChemEng over in the UK, what's the outlook like over there?

>what's the outlook like over there?
Not bad, chem eng is a pretty wide field, oil/gas, pharma, and foods. I spend most of my time tweaking embedded control systems, which is a programming skill that can be applied to almost any industry. My advice is to make sure you are a C programming samurai once you leave uni (not hard for me I grew up in the 80's), the guy that can make the robots preform is always in demand

Who is this hardness harlot?

Owing a house, a car and having money to sustain a family and travel at least once in a year if they want.

Obviously, be able to suply all the basic needes of the family (healthcare, education, a good diet...). Everything without State benefits.

I think the average is about £27k per year, for the UK as a whole. As long as you don't live in London, I'd say that £24k a year is enough to live comfortably as a single person, with enough to run a car, have good internet/mobile/TV etc, and put a bit aside into savings etc every month.

Personally, I'm on £34.6k a year, working in the automotive sector. My contract has a fixed 3.5% raise per year, and 11% shift allowance, so approximately £38k a year before tax. I'm more than comfortable, but I budget well and refuse to live in the more expensive towns near work. The extra money I have each month allows me to have hobbies I enjoy (racing motorcycles), and I don't generally have to worry if my car/household appliances shit themselves or anything. It's all relative though, all it takes is a few credit card debts/house a few miles closer to town and suddenly the salary doesn't leave you as comfortable. I'll never understand why people are willing to live in a smaller house, in a crowded, noisy city when they could have more space and more spare cash each month.

...

What does "working in the automotive sector" mean my fellow loyal subject of her majesty?
And do you accept CV's from Sup Forumssters?

I work for JLR. My personal role is building/modifying/testing vehicles that are used for product launches, shows and press reviews. My department also handles all royal, governmental and civilian MoD vehicles. It's pretty sweet.

If you're the slight bit interested in motors, or just engineering in general, you should seriously consider it. Even if you don't have any previous experience/qualifications, the apprenticeship program is great. We're undergoing some huge expansion right now and for the next 4 years, so there are a LOT of opportunities. The overwhelming majority of the workforce are great, too. It's still very much a typical male-orientated engineering environment, apart from the HR/business development side of things.

1000$ here in moscow
i earn 3000$

/thread

Average household income here equates to one earner getting about $27/hr.

My household more than triples it, I feel comfortable but not rich by any stretch.

is that guy on the left wearing khaki Jnco's?

T H I C C

Probably not. He makes his own clothes.

I'm comfortably in the upper middle class.

>buying a new car
>not even actually owning it but paying for a bank for the right to use the car they own
Give me a single reason to not buy reliable ~10 - 20 yo large sedan for 2 - 3k. Most of them are even comfier than your average new econobox

>have a job that brings in decent money
>invest plenty of the money
>still have enough left over to enjoy life
>watch it grow for a few decades
>move to some country with cheap cost of living, low taxes, and comfy weather
>be financially independent and enjoy life
>do all this before turning 50
Yes be a good goy and spend everything you have living paycheck to paycheck. Working until you're dead because the state can't afford to pay you proper pension while those who can into math have been retired for ages.

Related, abolish federal minimum wage. It has led to high unemployment among black youth and caused a systemic repetition of blacks being kept poor. The democrats are to blame for this.

Thanks for the input, Mr. Rothbard.

I'm an unemployed college drop-out and live with my retired, widowed father in his paid-off middle-class house in the 'burbs. I will probably continue to do so until my dying day.

I'm indifferent towards how people choose to live their lives. If some people bust their asses and become millionaires, good for them; I hope it brings them happiness. If it doesn't, then that's a shame.

I have no major life goals/aspirations. To me it feels like there's nothing that's worth working 40+ hours/week for. Maybe that will change once I'm done with this current bout of Electro-Convulsive Therapy. Maybe nothing will change.

They aren't really good at this though. They really suck. I'd fire them if I ran their department.

this. if you buy a car newer than 2006 then have fun when the CIA drives you into a tree.

In an ideal world where Jews and their greed didn't exist, federal minimum wage must be abolished because everyone part of the system would be principled and guided with morals and ethics.

But we don't live in that ideal world. We live in the world that is controlled by Jews and corrupted by Jew greed. Having no minimum wage would essentially give them what they wanted: complete slaves. Slaves that will undercut each other and sell their souls for a literal crumb of bread for an hour's work. Slaves that, no matter how much crumbs they earn, would still end up (and their descendants) indebted to the Jew, because that's how the Jews operate.

Fix the Jewish problem and the "ideas" they've corrupted humanity with and you'll have everyone's permission to abolish minimum wage.

Minimum wage is already obsolete because robots. The cost of automation is rapidly approaching minimum wage prices.

I get by on $738 dollars a month of NEET bucks which is $8856 a year. I don't use my money like a retard.

Amen

This is 0/10 even by shilling standards.
