When I was a kid and my father disagreed with what a teacher was trying to teach me he would go into the class with me after school and argue his points with the teacher in a civil way.

This was very important to me because I learnt that people in position of authority can also be fucking stupid and wrong.

When I was in highschool (until 3 years ago) the first assignment in histroy class was literally showing that 3rd reich was like sparta and athens was far better (failed that one for obvious reasons).
Next was comparing frank empire and 3rd reich, luther and goebbels, napoleon and hitler, bismark and hitler, and finally hitler and hitler. there was no single topic where the teacher didn't feel compelled to bring hitler into the equation.

At the same time in social studies (which you're forced to take in germany) the teacher actually failed people for "criticizing the german constitution".
