I fucking suck at statistics and geometry but really like learning to program. Can I get a job? Most other math like calculus I'm good at
I fucking suck at statistics and geometry but really like learning to program. Can I get a job...
Do you have a portfolio? What open source projects have you worked on? CS degree?
No? Enjoy working in a call center as customer support.

Lost.
god damn it I didn't mean to post this to Sup Forums I do this like every fucking weed. Sorry mods
Yes and no, not a job that really involves actually understanding how computer systems work but you can code what the other CS's want. Get better at math, make that your focus, it's not too hard
Nj wildberger, watch his youtube lectures if you really want to understand math
Yes, I was decent at calculus and logic, not great at some other areas of math. Ive been a software engineer for a few years, Java mainly. Make over 6 figs, work from home now, comfy.

Hi Pajeet
Of course you can get a job. If you have a CS degree and are willing to move you can get 60k easy.
learn Flash, thats my recommendation
you do what I dream about every day, although I'm starting to think I need a job in a physical place or I might just lose my sanity
no
you idiot
1. He didn't ask about getting a job in computer systems work so there is no "no".
2. Friend got a job out of college as a computer systems engineer with an information systems degree so yes you can. What part of computer systems job postings requires stats or geometry
I work in tech. Don't go to school. Just learn to code for free online. Build your portfolio by doing open source projects and you'll get hired eventually.
That's what I thought last summer after about 3 years remote. I ended quiting this remote position (I used to work in an office but moved ) found a new local job, commuted for 2 weeks, quit the job.
Old company made me an offer to get me back, i countered, then accepted... Back at home with my new old job. Too comfy to give up.
that's what I'm doing now, working two jobs and learning programming online. Really banking on this to work out as I'm 20 now and need to move up in the world
Spend sometime writing code that interacts with databases, also web. SQL would be useful but depends what you're going for
No. You either hit the ground running or never leave the crib. Sink or swim. There are plenty of incompetent programmers already, they are easily identified and worthless
>No
>There are plenty of incompetent programmers already
ok
Stop lying to this man. Give him the tough love of whats required or tell him to fuck off. "Enlightened moderates" have worthless opinions
Doesn't mean you can't learn this shit in your free time and free yourself of useless programs you could write yourself. But you either go for it, or don't. Indecisiveness will kill you.
I'm very self-disciplined believe it or not Canada. I don't need a random person online to treat me like their son
I'm not being indecisive though, been studying my ass off. I was just laughing at how you claimed I can't be a programmer with incompetence, then pointed out that there are incompetent programmers
based on this example you've posted you should be on a disability benefit
I'm just giving you the short and sweet condensed version of what you want to hear. How young are you?
this is a part of an online programming course offered by the University of Helsinki, it's not my code
20
If you've already been programming for while, you need to around people that are fucking wizards compared to you. I just landed an internship, which I consider god's way of throwing me a fucking bone finally. Because if this opportunity didn't come along I'd stagnate. I think you need to avoid stagnation at all costs. Its basically a fucking race to become a senior sw engineer

> good at math
> make over 6 figures
The first number "over 6 figures" is 1000000. You make a million $ or more as a programmer? I think not.
