No Chuck Berry >No Rolling Stones Is the simple way to look at it.
But he encapsulated what "the blues" was as a hip, outrageous and the time anti-establishment musical movement for the swinging sixties.
The music of black America i.e "The blues" has had a profound effect of British culture.
Taken up by native Brits and it gave them a voice - they previously did not have - a vehicle to express themselves - with a heart thumping power and raucousness, it was all in part of the "youth culture" that "the Beatles" and the like inherited.

Not really Rock isn't the blues like black people like to pretend it is. It's one influence of many and that's it. Blacks like to pretend blues and rock are one in the same, it's pathetic.
The genre of Rock has many branches - the roots of music are deep indeed - Beethoven is a pretty good heavy metal artist
But the Blues is the seed that grew the influence of what would become rock, Jazz is floating in the ether in the background. But the striking simplicity of the blues- gave it a boundless appeal to groups and performers such as Led Zepplin - Eric Clapton - The Beatles - The rolling stones - Bob Dylan you could strike names off all day of popular artists that became heavily influenced by the music genre known as "the blues"
FUCKING ELVIS
