I used to think hitler died in Germany in 45, there just seemed to be no other way. I then saw a documentary or two and started to read everything I could on the subject.

Take a look at the book "The Devils guard". It's a pretty famous book about a waffen-ss guy who allegedly ended up in the French Foreign Legion. They ended up there because pretty much everyone was ready to execute SS guys on site ; they couldn't surrender.It's available on libgen.
